Arizona Chickens

I took my son to that silly roadside attraction between Tucson and Phoenix; Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch. It was actually really awesome! An ostrich ate my camera.

squeaky you get the best pix. You crack me up!
I was there one time with our daughter. I had no idea how
bold those huge birds are. We posed for a picture and one of them
grabbed the cup I was holding with feed and nearly took a finger with it.

The fun part was the area with the really colorful birds. I don't know what
they are called. You hold some nectar in your hand and they will fly and
land all over you. We got great pix of that.

Thanks for keeping me smiling!

queenrilly thank you. I was sure it was sugar and other sweets foods used. The homemade candy I had in Florida made with sweet rice gap had more then one sweetness to it. There is one dish I had fixed for me I have tried to duplicate, mine was not eatable, in fact I got sick from the stink the first time I tried, it was pork uterus. I had it in a soup and with different dipping sauces. It was very porky and full of flavor. The soup had other organ bits and tendon in it.

I had a restaurant I would call 24 to 48 hours a head and their chief would surprise me with something NOT on the menu. I learned so much about what we are missing by our narrow tastes.

Little ducky at 8 days old... just had to share.

New chickies to hatch in 2 more weeks. My 2 broody silkies are co-setting on 17 eggs for a friend.

I just LOVE seeing your duckling pics!! Mine are all grown up now and I miss some of those baby days, but I do love their silly adult personalities! When my Pekin "Yangtze" was just about that age, we put her in the sink and she would swim in circles completely underwater like a fish, darting around. She still does it but now of course has a big pool. What does mama silkie think about her baby swimming?
