I would be happy to create a sign for you, if you would like me to. . . .specs?

OK, this is what the coop looked like when it was finished. I have added some fencing to create a chicken yard (and to keep them out of the garden. .. the sign is hung over the door. . .
the "people" door. .. on the right hand side, behind the small tree.

I am Mexican and have only been a citizen for a year. However, I will be shocked, SHOCKED if I ever get asked for proof of citizenship. Why? because I am fair-skinned and don't have a thick accent. Every time a government worker (because the law says ANY government worker has the authority to check) fails to do so, it will prove how racially biased this law really is. I have been in Phoenix for 5 years and have yet to be hassled. Well, except for that one time at WalMart when some old lady got in our faces for talking in Spanish. But other than that, I got nothing. Lucky? Or just lucky to be pale and fluent? I could be here illegally, but who would ever care to check? Blah.

Oh yeah, and also: good luck getting undocumented immigrants to report crimes. It'll be like open season on the undocumented. Well, I mean, more so that usual, of course.

OK, I will stop now, I am trying not to talk everyone's ear off on this law, but someone asked so that got me going again >_<

And totally switching gears: I got a double-yolk egg this morning!! Not from my girls, they aren't laying yet, but from the store! I consider it a good luck charm so I thought I'd share ^_^

i think we should ask the native american indians how they feel about immigration. . . . wonder what they would say?

i disagree with the whole thing. it just gives all government authorities Permission to be jerks if they so choose and it certainly gave Joe A. full ammo.

it is not going to be pretty for alot of people, legal or not.

Yes, I AM foolish enough to get in on the political discussion. . . while I agree that the bill is likely to create more problems than it solves, and have taken the time to write to Jan Brewer to urge her to veto it, the outcome really rests upon the meaning of "reasonable cause". This will, of course, most likely be interpreted differently by each and every law enforcement person that is charged with the duty of making such a decision, and therin lies the (biggest) problem. Racial discrimination is illegal in this country, thank goodness, and I suspect that in time, the U.S. Supreme Court will judge this law, as written, to be unconstitutional.

I would urge everyone to remember, however, that we Arizona Chicken keepers are a diverse group, and there will be those who dissagree with the opinions so far expressed. I urge restraint and compassion for all attitudes expressed on this forum, and we all need to be very very polite, if we are to discuss it at all.

Yeah I don't think I want to comment on the political thing so does anyone near 35th and deer valley have some fertile eggs? I don't care what breed they are really. A specific breed would be nice but not required. I have 3 yes 3 broody LF cochins and they are bound and determined they are going to be moms come hell or high water. I would just want a dozen. I will be glad to pick them up and of course pay ya for them

Sorry Nessa, I would give you some eggs but when I got back I noticed my birds were sick with some sort of respiratory thing. I am treating everyone, which seems to destroy hatchability. If any of my eggs (in the bator) hatch you are welcome to the chicks---they are inside the house, far seperate from the sick flock. Still, it may just be easier to pick up 3 day olds from the feed store.

the Feed Lot on Cave Creek and Union Hills has some. Nothing fancy. They were having a poultry seminar there today, with raffles for some SHA-WEEET prizes. The big prize was the Chicken-hut thingy from the people who make the rabbit hutches they sell at Petsmart.

Sock-Cammy got the GH today. She was stoked. I tried to respond to her Pm, but they are doing system maitenence. Anywhoo, she loved it!

You mean Pet Food Depot? I went in there to get some feed the other day and had to save the geese and ducks from freezing to death. Poor things

They were in a tub right in front of the air conditioning vent. It was blowing hard on them and their light was pointing away from them. They were all huddled in the middle shivering.

Do any of You Mesa folks sell eggs? My wife went downtown to the farmers market on Main this morning and says that they only have eggs on Fridays, it probably a couple months still until we get eggs from our girls and we're trying to get one less thing at the grocery store. We go through about two dozen eggs a week.
