Arizona Chickens

Has anyone seen or heard advertising for or against solar home energy? The energy/electric company's wants to raise rates on people that have solar panels, plus not pay home owners for or pay less for surpluses energy produced by home panels. I just heard on the radio one point on solar energy....... From the electric company's spokesman, that Solar energy has not been proven as sustainable. Any opinions of that? They are saying that those that do not have solar panels are subsidizing solar users. The programs helping people go solar are mostly government money. Anyone have information otherwise?

LKD, you should read the front page story on this subject in The Arizona Republic, Tuesday, Oct. 29. The Arizona Public Service Co. is spending millions trying to convince people that it is not sustainable and paying to lobby politicians to change the rules on paying for surplus energy produced by homeowners. It is their intention to end home-owner roof-top solar collection entirely. They are losing 200 customers a month when people get solar. That competes directly with them on power production from the Salt River Project and the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. You should see one of the most popular pizza places here in Tucson, it's called Brooklyn Pizza and it is entirely run on roof-top solar energy. Seems pretty sustainable there.

I found the AZ Republic article here.

Here in New Mexico, we can actually "sell back" energy to PNM from our PV systems.

Hi Sam,

As of right now, we can here in AZ too, but the APS Co. wants to halve the amount they have to pay for the surplus. Their hope is to tip the balance back in their favor so that it makes rooftop solar less feasible for the average homeowner.

Simply put, Solar will put APS out of business in due time. With that being the case APS will do whatever they have to to avoid that. Not sustainable? Thats grabbing at straws. If APS successfully buys the corporation commission's vote solar will take a big blow here. On the other hand if APS wins I hope it will push solar into the future with affordable set ups completely off the grid.

Advise needed: I had a fellow chicken person tell me they would hold a chicken upside down until it relaxed to tame it. I have a cuckoo Marian that pecks me, so I tried this. I didn't like the sound she made (labored breathing) so I turned her back over & she started vomiting & sneezing. She is not very active now & keeps lifting her wings up in a strange way. Is she going to be OK?

Somehow I want to believe that if there is enough public complaints regarding APS "plan of action" it would be possible to overcome the results of their vast spending power with regards to propaganda. The earth needs sustainablity and to withdraw from fossil fuels. It is totally stupid for the southwest US not to use solar as the main source of energy.

That has been the law sense solar started. But, what the power company's wants to do, to my present udders tanning, is pay less for the power and charge them more then other company's when they us their power.

--------------------------

How can WE complain to the power company's in having us, its customers, subsidize its commercials with OUR money WE PAY them in charges. They want to have us pay more, for what? Not equipment.... But advertising propaganda. Just how stupid are WE THE Customer? :he

I often carry chickens upside down for short periods. Ordinarily it does not harm them but it does sound as if your birds aspirated the contents of it's crop or maybe something is stuck somewhere either in the nostrils, esophagus, or even windpipe. The something needs to be dislodged.
