Has anyone seen or heard advertising for or against solar home energy? The energy/electric company's wants to raise rates on people that have solar panels, plus not pay home owners for or pay less for surpluses energy produced by home panels. I just heard on the radio one point on solar energy....... From the electric company's spokesman, that Solar energy has not been proven as sustainable. Any opinions of that? They are saying that those that do not have solar panels are subsidizing solar users. The programs helping people go solar are mostly government money. Anyone have information otherwise?
LKD, you should read the front page story on this subject in The Arizona Republic, Tuesday, Oct. 29. The Arizona Public Service Co. is spending millions trying to convince people that it is not sustainable and paying to lobby politicians to change the rules on paying for surplus energy produced by homeowners. It is their intention to end home-owner roof-top solar collection entirely. They are losing 200 customers a month when people get solar. That competes directly with them on power production from the Salt River Project and the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. You should see one of the most popular pizza places here in Tucson, it's called Brooklyn Pizza and it is entirely run on roof-top solar energy. Seems pretty sustainable there.
I found the AZ Republic article here.
