It could be a raccoon.

In Tucson?

If you are on the edge of town then it could have been. In the middle of town maybe an alley cat or a neighbors dog. I guess it all depends on were in town you live but those would be my guesses.

Good Morning!

I don't post very often although I do read what everyone else is doing.

I have a broody Austrolorp hen. Does anyone have fertile eggs available? What kind are they? How much do they cost? Where are you located? We are north of Phoenix in Desert Hills area.

Thanks,
Vivian

My birds are on duramycin---so they aren't hatchable right now. 2 weeks is a little too long to wait. Mahonri usually has fertile eggs--you could PM him.

Struebelchicks - You might want to just try to break her, give her chicks instead, or put an a/c in the coop... I just found out that the eggs my broody are sitting on probably won't hatch because it is too hot out.

My Austrolorps are making GREAT mother hens. Jumbo hatched 14 of 18 eggs we gave her from Mohonri.

I forgot about the heat possibly being a problem for the hatch. Has anyone had broodies sucessfully hatch in this type of weather?

Congrat's! I am so glad!

On the racoon, I think it is possible you could have a racoon out there. Sorry about the bunnies. Also, i agree, spread out the sunflower seed and let them dry. If they mold toss them out, but I doubt they will.
