Arizona Chickens

Hi Tofu. . . .they are all paintings that I have done in the last year or two. . . .the white chicken painting that you like was sold to a friend that lives in Pine. . ..I have another, similar painting of the same chicken, I think, that I like even better, but do not have a photo of it. . . . these were the chickens that my cousins had on their Montana Ranch a year or so ago. . . . .

You did a great job on the paintings.
In the future I am going to be looking for stuff for my display in my chick sales room....if you end up with extra paintings

Tofu, I always have paintings for sale. . ..if I was smart, I suppose I would not post pics of the ones that are already sold, . . ..but I just wanted to "share" with you guys, especially the chicken paintings, and yes, Tucson Tofu. . . those are REAL paintings. . . .I paint with pastel. . . .a pure pigment in dry stick form, on sanded paper, primarily because for me, pastel is the most evocotive of mediums. each little pastle particle is like a "crystal" that reflects light, and that is what gives pastel paintings their unique look and incredible color.

Very very excited, Laree. and I forgot to tell you. . . .I LOVE your home! Especially your kitchen, and kitchen counter. . . .I want to adopt your husband! Did you have any success with the Mulberries? If not, I'd suggest waiting till winter/ spring and getting a mulberry from a "mail order source" They grow easy from seed, too, and I know that I included some with fruit (seed) on them for you.

Time will tell... i expected the "hard grafts" to dry out and loose their leaves, so we'll see f they pop up after the summer:)

Wow C... you are truly a talented artist!

Congrats on retiring... I'll never be able to do that... too many wonderful children.

So what do you all think of this Blue Wheaten roo that I saved? I know he has a couple of flaws but what do you all think?

Think I could get $30 out of him?

Woot! My favorite chicken finally started laying! Teeny tiny cute little egg. Cooked it up and gave it back to her. I don't like eating the first few - they usually have meat spots in them... creeps me out a little. But she LOVED it

Busy day - had a meeting for our Liberia trip this morning, made another batch of pickles, now off to a bday party and then the casino with the inlaws for brab buffet night. Apparently they've been waiting all year for this... literally...

Mahonri: He's a very pretty boy. I'd pay $30 for him, if I was interested in seriously breeding Amerucanas.

RRR: Originally, my plan had been to try to get my broodys to take 7 or 8 chicks, let those grow out, and sell the 'extra' chicks as soon as I could. Since they only accepted two of the chicks, I'm probably going to keep all three. Assuming Cutie is a pullet which I really, really hope she is. I'm still going with my original plan of selling the extra chicks as soon as possible, although since I have a bunch of them, some of them will probably be pretty well grown out by the time I sell them all.

Well, I thought my hens had quit laying for the summer, but my son came over and found a couple of hidden nests. Twenty eight eggs in all. They all passed the float test, but my wife said she wasn't about to eat them.

Luckily, she is old and forgets. By this morning it was all history. She ate them without remembering.
