She was pretty nasty lookin before I bathed her too. Covered in some kind of oil...

SO cute!!! What kind is the dark/light one (with the white 'shoulders') ??

On another note....my poor honey. I am out of town for work for a while and he reports that Aggro the bantam Roo is making himself very well known.....

Anyone need a GLS bantam roo?? He's handsome and not too ornery.

I'm too much of a wuss to send him to freezer camp...I'd like to find him a happy home. He's paired off with a bantam cutie little MFD'U, who I adore, but if we need to relo the two of them we might be willing. (Have to ask the honey about that one). They sure seem to be mating a lot!

Hey gang..... I know I haven't met any of you yet and only posted a few times on this topic but..... I have a 9 wk old "fella" that needs a new home. We have been suspicious for several weeks that she was a he! This morning when I went to let everyone out for the day he was making a sad attempt at crowing. Can't have that!! We live in a subdivision with zero lot lines and the neighbors are very close. They have no problems with the chickens but we are not allowed to have roosters. Here are some pictures taken about 1 1/2 wks ago..... would anyone like to give this little guy a home? Free for the taking!! Please let me know...... (we are in the Dobson & Baseline area but I can meet you within a reasonable distance!!)

He's pretty, but I've got four similar ones that will need to go to freezer camp as well. My kids really want to learn how to process birds so it looks like I'm going to have to demonstrate the procedure.

Good luck Mahonri!

Sorry I have been out lately. I just didnt have much to say. Most of my birds are better. There are 3or 4 that will probably need to be culled- just in case they are carriers---but the DH was out all weekend, and I didn't want to have a repeat of my last attempt at being a bad ace.

On a happy note: Sommer's last batch of chicks is hatching. I had 5 hatched when I left for work.

really if you need a different incubator for yourself....just message me...

I Hope that everyone out there is having a great or at least good day. My day has been great so far, I got a new milk cow yesterday and I milked her for the first time this morning....she is such a good girl

I went up to Flagstaff to get her yesterday...she just fell into my lap, the lady called me and said would I know anyone that wanted to buy a Jersey cow she just couldn't keep her....well I was going to go to the dairy and get one when my other cows sold. So instead I did it backwards and got her before the other ones sold.......well it sounds like how I always do things,LOL

When we were in Flag. We were about 5 miles from the really big fire that is up there...please keep all those people in your thoughts, it was getting really bad when we were leaving, people were getting evacuated from their homes. We were on the other side of the highway watching flames and the smoke was bad.

azmotogirl - That rooster looks young to be crowing already, but they do that. I have 8 extra roosters that are 4 months old. I think I heard one try to crow this morning. I think there are several of us that would love to re-home some roosters. Unfortunately, they will probably just go to freezer camp.

I roasted a rooster yesterday. He was about 8 months old when I butchered him. He was a GCM, a big one!! He was, in fact, a HUGE, beautiful rooster. For such a big guy, there wasn't much meat on that chicken. It is soup only meat, but very tasty! Making chicken veggie soup today.

I hate to think of the tiny amount of meat that will come from my young roosters. A lot of work for some soup.

Laree - yay!
