Where are you going hunting?....Sounds like fun

We go hunting on Mount Lemmon. We are so excited! It is something that my hubby and I do together and really enjoy ourselves.

So the moral is: If you send seeds in the mail, put them in a plastic bag or a bubble envelope. Half the people I sent seeds to had them arrive in a torn envelope. I'm sorry! I figured they were tiny and would just slide around in the envelope but not cause any problems.

I bet the postmaster hates me now

If anyone didn't get any... let me know and I'll resend them in better packaging.

No kidding, you better package them better then you would if you were sending eggs.

I would have never thought them to rip open like that. I actualy think the post office opened then to check what was inside because the side of my envelope was sliced open not like a rip.

Funny you should say that. We had a tree limb break off and fall on our shed last Friday. No wind or rain, either.

Fortunately mine missed all three coops it could have easily demolished, as well as the birds loose in the yard. Where this branch breaks from the tree (still connected to the tree at this point) it is about 14" or so in diameter. A few ft down it forks into 12" diameter and 8" diameter limbs. Each of those is about 20' long. All measurements approximate, but probably a bit underestimated.

I hope everyone has been well. Its been misery with this heat. I hose down my coops in the hot part of the day and managed to get a nice sun burn.

I've got 4 silkie eggs in the Bator (hopefully) going to hatch on the 21st. My wild quail eggs never hatched (bummer). I need to candle my Silkies to see if they are good still. I have 2 more that will hatch early August. And I'm hoping they will lay a few more. My silkie roo is on borrowed time. I traded him but he's hanging out to fertilize some eggs. I just put 50 quail eggs in the Bator. I got the eggs from a friend. I'm very excited about it.

That is awesome! Please share more if you can.

I'm glad you are feeling better. Sometimes the heat is just too much.

LareePQG - Happy BYC Anniversary!

ArizonaNessa - Congrats on quitting smoking!

NoSkiveez - sorry about the eggs, I hope the new ones hatch.

Mahonri - I'm starting to think that when it finally gets around to raining, it will do so with a vengeance!

Well, I found out what is getting the eggs. It is the alley cats. I caught one trying to rake an egg out of a nest.

When I keep the chickens in the coop, I get eight or nine eggs; sometimes ten. But since I let them roam the backyard, I am lucky to get six. They lay in three or four different spots. None in the nest box. Twice I have collected the eggs and laid then out on top of the coop, and twice eggs disappeared when I went to water the trees.

It is those darn cats.

Mahonri have a good time up in the high country. I sure hope it isn't one of those hand cart things. Everyone I know that did that got blisters.

The auction on those two 20 acre parcels in Utah ended on the fifteenth. The results won't be published for a month. I am kind of curious to see what they went for.

In the mean time, I guess we just keep looking.

We are about 5 miles from a river so the dumb storms just follow that and never come up our way.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
