Arizona Chickens

I'm going to be moving from louisiana to Arizona in April will anybody have any chicks or chickens for sale around may I have to sell all my animals before I move

Does anyone know of the places that have Cornish chicks around Tucson? Either now or coming soon? I know the TSC in Marana will have them at the end of February but I wanted to see if anywhere else did

Sorry for the multitude of questions

I'm not so good at remembering everything about chicken keeping
How many jumbo cornish should I be able to keep in 120 square feet when they're at the size for slaughter?

Slaughter size Cornish X are pretty heft birds. Very wide, but not very active. They kinda....mope XD Like they know their fate. One of my good family friends does 60 Cornish X's in a space a bit smaller than 120 sq ft space from the time they are babies to the time they are ready to be processed. (She starts with 100 but ends up with between 40-70 due to predation and health issues and lots of cannibalism :/ dang birds)

As for a place that sells them, I haven't heard of any areas around Tucson, however you could possibly order from a hatchery ^^

Just ordered 25 Cornish Rock X from Strombergs! I looked around at different hatcheries and they seemed to have the best price and good reviews. Also Ordered the "GroGel" feed with them just cause it was only $3 and didn't seem bad to have. Total came to $70, not to bad I'd say!

Well played Stromberg!

I guess I know where I would order my nest batch <3

(My boys are turning out to be kinda aggressive breeders and I dont wanna subject any hen to that. Hopign to order this time next year.)

Just so you know for future reference, Murray McMurray has served me extremely well for Cornish Crosses. I've always got a few more chicks than ordered and paid for, and they've all been very healthy. My only losses were from my very first order but were completely my fault - I ordered them in late March and a couple died in early May when our temps got up above 100. At the time I didn't realize just how heat-intolerant they were. Since then I've timed every order so they'd reach 5 weeks old only between late October until around mid April and haven't had not one loss.

I haven't ordered chicks yet from Strombergs but I've ordered a lot of other stuff and they've been great. You should do good with them.

That's good to know, I'll give them a try next time. They did have them at a cheaper price, but with the shipping it came out to cost more haha
I saw a couple negative reviews about Stormbergs, but it was just about how they don't have good show quality birds. Which, obviously, doesn't matter in this case haha. I hope I'm able to give them a good review soon!

Hey guys, long time no see.

My life has been crazy between kids and critters and my husband's health issues, but I'm back (if there is anyone around who still remembers me) and still raising chickens. I have a mixed flock of mostly EEs, with a Blue Andalusian (who will be six this year) , a Rex Sex-link and a Russian Orloff. In the spring I'm going to be adding some more color with some white and brown layers.
I'm also raising 3 turkeys as an experiment, and will be finding out how they taste in a couple weeks :D

In other chicken related news, one of my Olive Eggers has gone broody, and I'm in the market for fertile eggs.

You have Russian Orloffs? How do they handle the heat out here?
