Arizona Chickens

@Prettychick44 AZ Backyard Chickens group on Facebook has a lot of local breeders, many of whom have OE's on a regular basis. You can also check with CBL Livestock in Peoria, Sabrina has a ton of birds and the last time I was in there 2 weeks ago had some 8 week OE's available.
I am always seeing posts for CBL on facebook. They seem to produce year round and have a decent reputation. I've thought I'd like to check them out but it's like a 4 hour drive for me... :p

It's about an hour across town for me, but I've been very happy with the birds I've gotten there.

Yes the local feed store by my house won't order such a small group, I have tried. I was hoping to find maybe a local breeder within the phoenix metro area that might have some OE's for sale. I would prefer to pick them up myself rather then have them shipped if possible! But thankyou for your advice. I think I may have to wait till the spring to find these babies lol
I was at OK Feed & Supply (Tucson) about three weeks ago, and they had a tall rack with trays of baby day-olds. There must have been at least 200 chicks, and there was a list taped to the rack with all the breeds there.

I went back two weeks ago and they were gone...they have another building where they keep them and a grow out space for the older ones (unsexed).

Their website is being modified, but if you hit them up on their Facebook page, you can post you inquiry there and see what they have left over. The manager runs the page and responds to everyone.

Their pet section is pretty extensive, you know, for cats, dogs etc., and their is a small section for poultry and horses. There is also a big barn and have several types of hay and straw. I can't imagine 200 chicks disappearing in a week's time. At least inquire what breeds they did have and what they're expecting to receive in the spring. I think they did have a sheet on the front door stating what they would be carrying in the future but can't remember right now. Good luck in your search. --BB

:celebrate I finally got an egg today again since the molting and that cold snap we had, so maybe there will start being more eggs out there soon?

Yayy, I bet you will!! they will soon follow that leader, mine all have their appetites back I know for sure 4 of my seven are laying, my best layer punky is back on her every other day laying like clockwork

Poor Dina is molting, she was my sole layer and just stopped to molt so she's the trooper keeping us with eggs while everyone else molted

I have been thinning down my Australorp flock. I still have 1 Black pullet, and 1 Blue pullet that will be starting to lay eggs in a couple more months. Last call, on your chance to get them! (Otherwise I will give them to a friend in Maricopa.)

my girls won't eat those feather fixers, it smells horrible too i gave it to the wild rabbits and birds lol i forgot about chick starter until it was too late, but some girls went through the molt super fast while others are taking their time... glad everyone's doing ok though

Hmm... if you mean the Feather Fixer feed from Nutrena, it doesn't normally smell. Perhaps you got a bad bag of feed? I've been using Feather Fixer for a few years. It is fine, as long as I get it from a good feed store that rotates their stock on a regular basis.

Once I got two bags from a different feed store in an emergency and THOSE bags were putrid smelling. They were totally bug-infested (more bugs than feed) and the feed also smelled like it had gotten wet at some point. Had lots of problems with that particular feed store over the years and won't go back. Virtually every bag of feed I got from them had bugs, and they refused to acknowledge the bugs were a problem. (A few bugs may not be a problem, but most of the feed I got from them had massive infestations affecting the quality of the feed.) Now I won't even go there in an emergency.

I am very happy with the feed store I use now. The feed is always fresh, the people are nice, and everyone in my flock loves the Feather Fixer.

i know what you mean..! thank goodness, all my flock is over with the molt ,they are all bright and shiny , except for about 4 late starters , so back to laying lots of large eggs fingers crossed...:fl they never really stopped laying, but the egg numbers did go down as the molt took over , along with nights that went down 20 degrees out of the clear blue, that was a real shocker, but now we are back to our normal 85 to 90 degree days and warmer nights:clap:thumbsup:woot
