Arizona Chickens

Yikes!!! I have one hen that lays some extra wrinkly eggs like that, but they're just long... not nearly that big.View attachment 1280362

Also, if you're interested SonoranChick, I'll have a nice black naked neck rooster available in April. I just want to get a few more black NN chicks out of him, but he's not quite meaty enough to keep after that for breeding for me. But the girls like him. :) He'll be a year old.View attachment 1280363
What a ham, he's cute :love Thank you so much for the offer and for giving me some time to think about it! I'll definitely keep him in mind.

This right here... :clap
Some of us would be able to give you a free rooster if you need one! :gig
Speaking of roosters, I went out to the garage earlier today to check on the brats, and that long-tailed RIR crowed three times while I stood there in horror. These weren't squeaky little crows...they were HEFTY. I haven't heard anything from the other big one with the slightly shorter tail, but it has even bigger wattles and comb. They both have some black feathering and also some silver streaks in amongst their feathers.

I know the third one is a hen because it's a puny little thing with a tiny comb and stubby tail.

Those two big ones have to go because I can't keep them in the city. If anyone is interested, they can have them for FREE. They appear to be in good health and fed very well, and had probiotics in their water since they were a few days old.

I just don't know what to do right now. :barnie

I bought them as pullets. I didn't really want them to begin with but the ISA (brown sex-links) were sold out.

I got:
3 Barred Rocks
3 Black Australorps
3 Austra-Whites
3 RIR's

I didn't pay too much to their development at first, assuming the real pullet was a runt, but the other two were quickly getting bigger and bigger while the runt was growing slowly.

It seems like the hens were more skittish and panicky, probably not used to the noise.

Two. The two big ones look almost like twins.
Just could not resist..... :gig

So my little hen that lays eggs almost every day, "missed" a couple of days, or so I thought.. When I was talking to her yesterday, she dropped a soft egg, turned around and started pecking on it.... so this was probably not her first. I bought oyster shell, but am not sure how to offer it.
Do I mix the layer feed with it? or offer it in a separate dish... My hens free-range my yard, and get plenty of bugs, and vegetation.
