Arizona Chickens

@SonoranChick i just remembered a chicken eating horrible stuff story that might make you feel better

On the buff coop up top 4 ft high I used spray foam to seal something. It was 4 ft high and the buffs can barely jump up to their 2 ft roost so I figured its fine. Few months pass by and the eggers are integrated and now you know where I'm going I forgot about it, it's dry but still there and they can jump up on top and I came in one morning and 5 were interested up there when I go what ya eating and to my horror they were snacking on the dry foam breaking off pieces!

I covered the rest up so tgey coukdnt get to it and felt worried but no one got sick
I'm so glad they were ok! Chickens are just too curious for their own good. And with mine, I totally understand them wanting to rip the band aid off, but then to go and eat it? What are they thinking?! And they have left the vet wrap alone so apparently we didn't even need the stupid band aids anyway. Ugh.

Okay, one more nature photo. I can't resist. Mother Nature painted this gorgeous canvas last night right behind my house.

That is so beautiful, and such a pretty blue up there in the sky! Any good news to update on your hubby yet?

Maybe they were thinking that if they ate that thing that keeps trying to eat their foot, that it wouldn't be able to chase them around the yard anymore?

I did the ant stakes tonight 5 dollar box of 8 stakes at home depot
Chickens WILL peck and check out anything so I'm not risking it
what we did was take a cinder block And covered the stake then put a piece of block over the hole so no chicken neck could get in, we also slightly lifted the bottom 1/2 inch with a couple stones so the tiny ants could still get in easily on the bottom and top but no curious beak

So far the ants are super attracted to it, it's so busy that it just looks likes a ball of ants and not a stake

Let's hope they leave/ die off now

I hope that they work for you!

No evidence of band aids on the poop boards or anywhere else this morning. Everyone is acting like business as usual, 4 girls already laid their eggs. How long do guys think it would take to pass them out the other end? Or, if they are stuck and cause an issue in the digestive tract, how long until they would start exhibiting symptoms? :idunnoI wish I knew who ate them, if they even were eaten in the first place. Good news is the vet wrap is still on! I'll redo it tonight before roost.
