One of the babies went to his new home. He will be loved and spoiled.

Also a picture from tonight.

I looked at the weather rader, you definitely have stuff coming.

Man, that wind was strong! It knocked over several of hubbies big plastic barrels and blew them across the yard. It also blew over one of the big metal barrels that I keep my chicken scratch in during cooler weather, so it was empty now. The electric went out for an hour. I put a big towel doubled in half over the incubator, along with another one of the plug's to help keep the heat in. After that hour when the lights came back on, the temp in it had only gone down to 94F.

Oh my goodness! Glad it wasn't too bad for you. Are you getting rain?

I think that storm blew right around my house and headed straight to yours! Glad you're ok. I hate it when the power goes out.

Yes, I'm ok over here. It felt good out there in the rain even if I was picking up those barrels. It cooled thing's off, and we did need some rain.

I ended up not taking the job at the elementary school that I had been hired for back in April. I would have ended up missing a lot of work for doctor appointments and of course maternity leave when the baby comes, and I didn't qualify for Family Medical Leave Act protections since I would not have been there long enough. Not to mention finding childcare for a newborn :hmm would have been rough. So my husband and I decided it was not the right time. I just realized I would have been back to work full time today, it was the first day of school! I am so thankful I got to spend my day in the coop instead! And ironically I got a call from a parent this afternoon, I used to tutor her son when he was in 2nd grade. He is now in high school, and needs some help, so I'll start tutoring again next week! I'm excited. It will be nice to make a little extra money before the baby comes, and still have plenty of time to spend with the chickens.
