Arizona Chickens

We got quite the storm last night! It rained buckets for two hours straight, and the power went out. No hail though, and the winds died down, so it was pretty nice to just get some good rain. I wish so badly it would rain in the daytime though, when it's hot and sunny! Now it's just humid out, & a little cloudy. I started two more hens on bumblefoot treatment today. The red star's scab popped right off so she just got a neosporin wrap, and the Wyandotte got a PRID wrap. They were upset, but it was nothing a handful of blueberries couldn't make better :)

sooooo
If my broody that has been sitting on ice packs gets eggs that are about to hatch, do I need to worry about humidty?
Last year with the heat, part of the hatch was shrink wrapped, and I did not know how to recognize it in time to save them. :hit
I've moved Five (my hen) indoors so that I can remove the ice packs, all her chest feathers are in place since she has not been sitting on actual eggs.
BlueBaby has graciously offered Five and me a few eggs, but I want to be sure I can successfully hatch them.:jumpy

Nope, I put our eggs under Ruby on day 18 and she's taking care of the rest.

ETA I have a fan and mister in the coop during the day to keep it from getting too hot though.

That's what I told @nicollee that it should be ok. She want's to get the eggs tomorrow, and they are due to hatch on Tuesday.

We got our usual wind and dust - no rain. Now its 109 outside and I've started a second set of ice bottles. Ice at 3pm - I will have some type of coooooollllllling set up for next year. This is crazy, crazy.

You know I have the a.c. but no one will stay there they like the shade and puddles and ice better but I do see a relief on the layers that were stuck there in the hot parts I used my a.c. a total of 6 times this summer

that should be a easier hatch considering most of the incubating has been done! So many hatchings going on

@SonoranChick your storm just blew over here fast never rained but i feared it So I ran out to put the ee's in their coop but nothing ever happened lol glad you got rain

@meetthebubus these storms make me nervous, you just never know what you're going to get. Could be nice rain with a breeze, could be mass destruction and devastation! I always worry that the door to the coop will somehow blow open, but I forget how much the wood swells and expands in the humidity. I can barely open it after a good rain. It's just so hard not to worry about them out there during monsoon season! I can bring the dogs in, but not ten chickens.

Mine has a big wooden bar that latches into metal, there's really no way it could blow open. I'm just a paranoid chicken mom. The run has an elaborate metal bar with an additional padlock, because it used to be outside of the garden and my husband wanted to make sure nothing could get in there. My neighbor couldn't figure out how to open it last time he came over :lau This is the same neighbor who thinks my leghorn is a roo. Maybe he is not the brightest crayon in the box.
