Haha yes! The chick had escaped the enclosure so i got her and the chick screamed at first and mama came at me and pecked....good thing the hardware cloth was between us so only the fence felt her fury... I now have a pic in my mind of Rambita with a red band around her head....

I found 2 pullet eggs out there today and each was a different shade of tan/brown, so I know that 2 of the younger girls are starting to lay now.

No, these pullet eggs are from my April hatch, not the May hatch. Hazel and her sisters from that May hatch will lay green eggs, not the tan or browns.

Maybe we will have some hatching on the same day this time? My 2 blue eggs that I gave to my NN broody are due to hatch on Tuesday. The egg's that are in my incubator are due to hatch on the 25th. Ok, maybe not the same day, but close?

My CCLB blue eggs will be hatching out as mixes because I have my White NN rooster with the CCLB hen. Some of the chicks have been hatching out with fully feathered necks, while other's just have the bib on them. Any pullet from them will lay green eggs later on. I have 2 of those blue eggs under my broody hen right now that are due to hatch on Tuesday. There are also 2 of them that are already in my brooder that hatched from the blue eggs on Labor Day. One of them is NN and white (named Sugar). The other one is NN and dark brown in color (named Coffee). The other 2 that I had from that hatch that had the fully feathered necks have already been sold.
