Arizona Chickens

Coop finally has a roof! Plywood walls are up, too. Tomorrow I'll attack it with chicken wire and hardware cloth. Husband is going to make a door and a pop door, and then the chicks can move in to their mansion!

Very nice! Can't wait to see it when it's done!!

Hey everyone sorry I've been so quiet! It will take me a while to catch up. We had a baby shower over the weekend, and then our power went out, and today we are dealing with the loss of our old dog. Life is moving in fast forward as we prepare for the baby. I know it will only speed up even more once she's here! I may be out of the loop for a while but I hope you're all doing well and survived all the rains! We finally got the nest box fixed :) Just in time.

Hope the baby shower was a good one. :) Az. is bad for power, home phones, and internet going out from storms. It's all of the old infrastructure they put in years ago that they thought would last forever. Sorry about having to loose your old dog :hugs, but he is no longer suffering and is now happy running around with the other dogs up at Rainbow Bridge.

Hey kiddo, hope you had a nice baby shower. Hurray for repairs! Hope you'll take a minute to let us know you're home and all is well after the baby comes :)

@meetthebubus If she laid an egg today do you think the prolapse is just swelling right now? I put my girl in a hospital cage and keep her pretty dark so she wouldn't egg. Like I said I had no idea what to do and followed what the chicken chick posted on this item. My heart was in my throat the whole time I worked on her. Hope she feels better fast.
@SonoranChick don't ya love it when you accomplish the "fix" ! I know I do but sometimes my DH is down and I have to do girl fixes as he calls it. Works is all I say. Keep a low profile and remember to rest when you need to rest. Nothing goes away, it will all wait on you. Soon, very soon. :)

@SonoranChick enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy and folding and refolding all those darling baby clothes!

Coop has a door and wire siding! Just need finishing touches and then the chicks can live in it! Planning to move them in tomorrow. I put them to bed tonight in their brooder on the patio like I've been doing for the last week. Tonight, 6 of the 9 are snuggled up on top of the brooder plate and not under it! They're growing up for sure. I'll string an extension cord out to the coop so they can have their warmer plate for the next week or so, but I'll also give them a box to huddle in, and then see if anyone is using the plate.

Thanks, well it's a small prolapse but it's definitely sticking out she is a top layer, lays alot. I stuck it in, she layed the egg, and then I stuck it in again.

I'm using cortizone read it's better than prep h, and might get witch hazel, more cortisone, gloves, and more vet wrap.

Oh I'm also spraying vetericyne to keep it moist and bacteria killing.

OMG so busy with work... it is soooo hard to catch up... I'm trying
Is this the possible surprise...... new pets:idunno
How the heck did you wind up with Coyote cubs???
umpteen years ago, my BF had a coyote mix, and it was the best dam dog!!!

One of the chicks picked a wet leaf out of the waterer and is running around the pen squealing like she's found so.e great prize, so everyone else is chasing her to get a little of that wet leaf. Weirdos.
what the heck is it with chickens that even if there is a whole pile of something, as soon as one chicken gets it, thats the only one any of them want....
