Yeah, I don't panic over these, it's only the second that I've gotten in the 3 years that I've had the girls, when I start worrying is when the egg breaks in my hand without much pressure.. lets me know it's time to increase their calcium, the egg that had broke in my pocket was very thin, so I need to get their oyster shell tube moved.@starri33 Usually someone is coming back into lay or starting to lay and just doesn't have things coordinated yet. Not a big deal in general. I too toss mine to the far side of my yard and the girls have a rodeo with it. I don't throw eggs around my nest or feeding area as I don't want to encourage anything ugly!
Mine tend to hang out in the coop, they don't care for the winds. I can't blame them, I don't like them either.Thanks. Me too. It is amazing how different climates effect the birds. Does this high wind terrify the chickens?
That's a good sized egg.. sexlink?First egg!! 21 weeks. View attachment 1664173
I'm pretty sure it's from my Australorp Harriet. She was the first to start squatting, last Monday. Another Australorp started squatting a day or two later. An Orpington squatted at the end of last week, and my Austra White squatted yesterday (but her eggs will be closer to white). But it was just on the ground in the coop when I let them out this morning. That's a good sized egg.. sexlink?

@igorsMistress Charley still has 10 girls in his harem here, even with those 4 hen's that now live next door at my neighbor's. Pam named them Ginger, Roxy, Lulu, and Misty, and she yell's across the fence at me every time she get's an egg.
@Michelle Guynn Yes, I'm still saving that one hen named Precious that you wanted for you.![]()
