Arizona Chickens

I have posted, only response I got was from Tinman0ut regarding breed.. no one else wants to look at my babies 😆 but, from the info I've gathered, by age 3 weeks I should have a good indicator of what they are. So one more week for my Minnie Mouse, and the two new ones are an additional week out. Not as bad as the 6 + month wait for the silkies!

Check out the new white one, definitely the same breed as Minnie, both flew up to perch 🥰
Adorable, I'm afraid that is about all I can say..lol, even though I've been raising chickens for 5 years now, I'm still not good on saying who's who, with the silkies you said 6 months. Is that when they start to crow and lay? I've just got my first ones.

Silkie egg laying is more like 7-9 months of age, but up to a year, and the boys can also crow anytime between 6-12 months 🤣 so yeah, not even going to try with them. The male feathers on their head will be a little different, but it's pretty slight (poofy even little head for girls, or slightly leaning back and slightly more compact feathers with a couple longer feathers, emphasis on slight). I've spoken with a couple silkie breeders over here, and they said they've been 100% sure on the sex, to find out MONTHS later they were wrong. The boys just decide to mature when they feel like it. So I've made peace with not knowing with them. I'm just going to pretend I'll end up with a sweet non crowing rooster.

When that happens, will the hatchery replace them? the person paid extra to get pullets.
Nothing, it's a scam. They'll reply afterwards about how long it might take to accurately sex them. Might as well pay for straight run. Can you change your order? There are a couple breeders in New River with show quality chicks, extra cute poofy heads on the chicks. I didn't know about them before I went to the pet store.

They are way to young to sex.

Well I am back on team bantam cochin for my Minnie Mouse (and her two new friends). I found some really good pics of the side, front, and top views of a 2 week bantam cochin, and it's right on the money. I have no qualms about extra fluffy mini chickens! Also, I am seeing more developed combs on other 2 week olds that end up roosters... I'll wait another week before I feel more confident about the sex. I just love that she runs to my hand now, I really don't want to give her up. I also realize I get way too bonded to pets to go through this process 🤣 I might need to adopt older chickens that need rehoming in the future.
