I got my coop "extension" today.. i think i will paint the original coop along w the new part so it is an easy spray and wipe. It isn't difficult w the enzyme spray i have, but it is so painted so thin, its almost like unfinished wood.
Once that is done, i am going to try my sand litter idea. Im going to use the 1" deep trays i have now, but i think it will fail and I'll have to go w the 4" deep pans. But.. it'll be nice if it doesn't require the extra modification. I will also move the coop over an area rug so any sand that escapes can be vacuumed up.
Right now the girls are very content.. so i hope bringing in two more won't be disruptive. They will have a long introductory time side by side. Ive never seen any of them mean to each other, hopefully that stays. Their new nesting area is big enough to hold layers and broody mamas at the same time
