Arizona Chickens

You have been busy today! And so glad to hear that Daisy is feeling better. Could it have been the change in diet?
Honestly, i really think shes a piggy.. she has been panting forever... i took the seeds and scratch away (its not like there's a lot, but she guards the bowl from the others until she has eaten every speck) and the panting was gone. I need to experiment a bit more to make sure that's it. But she is still running around like a crazy chicken!

I got the tree stump treatment, but that is to be used after the stump is dead... i hope the bleach works! These are the type of trees that continue to have runners for a few years tho, so the work won't exactly be over.
Be careful with stump treatments. I purchased one, and after reading chemical ingredients, I know I wanted to stay away from that as far as I could. Since you also have concerns about using chemicals, I suggest you try this method on that stump. This video is not the greatest, but it conveys my point of how to accomplish a burning with very little fire danger, if controlled. You can contain the fire with bricks, or blocks set in a circle. About as much smoke as an afternoon BBQ.

I did see that method, but this tree type has runners that will regrow new trees within the week.. so i need to feed as much of the roots with poison. I'll still get some popping up, but if i can pull them over one year instead of 3, it will save just a slight amount of the sanity i have left 😂

This tree also destroys roads, sidewalks, house foundations... but its the Arizona HOA shade tree of choice! They are beautiful, but they need to be in open spaces, not planted on small lots or next to sidewalks.

My brother in law had a "volunteer" sissoo tree in his yard that came from somewhere down the street.... and that was in the san tan valley area.

Yes they are a true octopus tree.. i planted all my climbing roses probably 6 years ago.. and i remember i was amazed at how fast one of them was growing!!... nope.. sissoo tree.. intertwined within the rose bush. It came back several times despite pulling the entire root segment. They are fine and dormant until you cut into one, then they take their revenge. My neighbor hit up my gardener, so his sissoo tree is coming down today too.. so our yards will be really fun for the next few years!

Well, crap. Housemate/landlord (same person) finally decided that building a coop and keeping laying hens is too expensive for her (times are a bit lean here financially). I can't afford to do it all on my own, so the whole thing has been shelved.

I am very sad. 😢
I'm sad too, to hear that. I'm sure you're very disappointed. But, I wonder if quail would be affordable, and/or satisfying for you?

Time's are hard right now on many people, and I hope that thing's will get better soon. Keep that dream about having your own chicken's one day. Maybe someday soon the time and condition's will be right for you.
