Arizona Chickens

I swear that these weren't chicken from my flock that were apprehended at McDonald's, but it was new's worthy. I guess they wanted more than just the veggie and seed's?:

Probably my piggies!!
Well, crap. Housemate/landlord (same person) finally decided that building a coop and keeping laying hens is too expensive for her (times are a bit lean here financially). I can't afford to do it all on my own, so the whole thing has been shelved.

I am very sad. 😢
Keep an eye out through this spring and summer, when people start to sell off their coops and equipment from their "covid hobby", might make things more affordable.

I know this is so random... but i really love my little chickens. I know it is so uncommon and doesn't garner a lot of approval, but i really love having them inside the house w me too. I have some more things to take care of that are pretty important, but once i knock those out, im going to put them in little annoying outfits (and I'll make sure they are super comfortable in them) and post lots of pics of them. I am planning on building one of those small chicken playgrounds for them too... knowing them, they will bypass it to fall asleep on the sofa. </end random chicken love post>

I’m sorry it’s not going to work out for you. Hopefully you can make it happen soon!
I found a new pullet egg out there today, and didn't catch who layed it. I'm thinking that it was one of the Dorking pullet's that layed it though.
If it’s white it’s a Dorking.

When I first got chickens we had a little 8'x5' outdoor coop/run area. We moved it (it was built to be moveable) to the other side of the yard inside the huge pool fenced area and made perimeter fence along 2 block walls with a "Tunnel of Doom" bench seat under a shade covered poolside patio, so they could go out under orange trees. You know what we thought was the Tunnel of Doom actually turned out to be the place they liked the 2nd best (after the 1st place- under orange trees).

Lesson I learned --Whatever you build, make it moveable, flexible, even modular or reconfigurable IF POSSIBLE.

Yes their current coop/run is on wheels, and the "playground" will be on a tray base, also on wheels. But the most movement it gets will be livingroom to hallway! 🏠🐤🛋😊

If it’s white it’s a Dorking.

It was, and it's really small. The 2 White Rock's are also laying egg's now, but those egg's are a deeper brown than my light tan one's are. The Cowgirl is back to laying her green egg's again now, too.

Congratulations! I’m curious how big your Dorking eggs get. My girl never laid eggs nearly the size the Turken girls did.

That Dorking mix hen that I had before didn't lay as big of an egg as the NN's do neither. It look's like these 2 White Rock's egg's are starting out a bit bigger, so I'm thinking they will be worth me trying to hatch some of their's later. You know how I like hatching those bigger egg's! :gig
