Arizona Chickens

I am interested to see how large an egg they fit. My ducks laid 3 eggs the other morning, pretty soon they will be larger, right now they still fit in a regular carton. A guy at our farmer's market sells his for $9.00/dozen.

I don't know, as none of your duck egg's are here for me to see if they would fit. My NN that lay's the egg's that I had to get these eggs for is because her egg's are too long for the large sized carton's.

The Pekin ducks I used to have laid an egg too big to fit an egg carton. You could put them in a muffin tin and they about filled it. I bet these ducks will not have an egg that huge. They just started laying, and their eggs are about the size of a AA chicken egg from Safeway right now. The egg in the center is the duck egg.

The egg carton's arrived and I already transferred that girl's egg's over into it. I don't like those styrofoam egg carton's. These that I bought are those cardboard type one's, and they are much stronger than those styrofoam one's are. I think that your duck egg's could probably fit into it, although I do not have any duck egg's here to try in them. I kept 50 of the Jumbo sized one's, and my next door neighbor now has the other 50, as we split the cost to get the order of 100 of them.

I only have one person so far wanting to buy some, she is allergic to chicken eggs so she will probably be back. It sounds good if the large cartons are stronger, the eggs are heavier! Ducks like Prescott, they had a great time playing in the snow. I might have to try and hatch some!

OK, can anyone give me any hints as to what might be wrong? When I'm here during daylight hours, the door is open and the chickens can come out, and usually this is where they'll be during daylight hours. When I leave home, they're inside due to predators. This is day 3 where they won't leave the coop. I just checked on them, and it is very quiet. Very little clucking. They don't show any signs of illness, their eyes and nostrils are clear. Yesterday I only got one egg, a small one from the pullet that just started laying. The other two were laying daily. My cockerel is still crowing.

I've been feeding a half and half mixture of 16% layer pellets and all flock, with goodies like cracked corn, mealworms, or greens on top.

I'm concerned.

Maybe a recent predator scare?

Not that I'm aware of, unless something came nosing around while I wasn't there.

I walk around my coop and run twice everyday to check for any fresh track's or if it look's like anything was trying to dig or chew on anything trying to get in. I also have a padlock on my outside coop entry door.

Good idea. I thought about a padlock, but they can freeze up in bad weather.
