Arizona Chickens

@AngBantamLuv Your plant's are looking good!

I just cleaned out all the dust out of my brooder that's been sitting empty since I moved those Aloha chick's out of it. I'm getting it ready for my chick hatch. You never know if one of them will decide to hatch early. They seem to sometimes have a mind of their own. :gig

There is clover sprouting! 🍀 I only see literally these few leaves that are large, everything else is pin sized little sprouts.. but its sprouting, so i am happy!

Now that im watering daily until everything gets going, i have other seeds coming up... not sure which because I've put so many different ones down. I have a bunch of candytuft (i think) spreading nicely. My goal is to keep the center area of the yard covered with whatever grows best each season, but just let it be so its also low maintenance. I expect some die back in the worst of summer, but hopefully things reseed.

Here is my "zen garden" coming along. I can see poppy and marigold leaves, the candytuft, my ice plants.. but i have no idea what else is there.

Another reason why I had to get those 3 new NNs to move in with the other raptors! They were in the shed where ducklings will go in 2 more weeks. The white NNs seem to be getting along with the White Rocks pretty well. They are mostly ignoring the new birds now. The 3 new ones are back by the orange bucket, they stick together.

Look's like a "stick with who you know" situation, huh?

I brood mine in the house, as you know. It's a good thing that I had bought a new package of those XL puppy pee pad's a while back to have on hand. I use those in the bottom of the large dog crate that I use for my brooder. It makes it a little bit easier when I have to clean it out after I move them out of there. I lay 3 layers of the puppy pee pad's over a piece of cardboard box that I had cut to fit the bottom, and then tuck them in around the cardboard like you would with sheet's on a bed.

I like having them NOT in the house. They get more room in the shed, than they would in my "Hen Den" sharing with Dylan's cage and my desk. Dylan makes enough bird dust in here to clean!
