Arizona Chickens

That was many, many moons ago (20-hrmmfrmm years). The only piece I still have is this small lampshade.View attachment 3088561
Nice job! Do you plan on doing anymore of of the stained glass thing's? I should repaint an old lamp that's over here. The original paint job that was done on it wasn't done very well. I used to paint ceramic's, but haven't done that in year's.

Probably not in the near future. I had to cull a lot supplies for our move and made some difficult decisions. 🤣

I would love to see your ceramics.

Like you I had to sell a few thing's when I moved here from Kansas year's ago. There was just too much to try to move. I did save a nice lamp that my dad had bought me for my birthday one year because I liked it. He died not long after I moved over here.

Has anyone here tried making their own egg carton's? I guess if you made your own that you could design your own style to them.

I had a product design professor who taught us how to make vacuum forms for acetate (or other heat-moldable plastics). I don't think I would make the paper mache versions if plastic was available to me.

He basically used a perforated board (could be pegboard) hooked to a vacuum. After heating the plastic sheeting to correct temp (could just be a heat lamp depending on your plastic material) you turn on the vacuum to suck it to the form.

I like the paper type one's. When they get dirty or too old to reuse again, they will break down faster then plastic will, and can be used in composting. Not all people remember to return the egg carton's clean.

Yes pros and cons to paper or plastic. I love that cardboard can be mulch on-site or seed starting tray for tiny seeds. I also like the plastic cartons that a chef friend saves for us - see thru (nice for customer) and I can disinfect if needed. I do throw them away when they are deformed or extremely dirty so that's bad.

We don't have recycling up north and I think even Mesa has cut back on thier recycling program - they pick it up as recycling but IDK that it is actually recycled anymore.

WOW I was just looking at this a day ago and it's filling in more and more states. Alaska? I guess the migratory birds are taking it north.
It seems to be going to affect the whole US. My DH told me just yesterday that it's just a matter of time before it hit's AZ. too. I hope not, but you never know. The only thing that you can try to do is to not free-range and make sure that your coops, runs, and feed and water are protected so that the wild bird dropping's can't get in to where your flock is. I think that people who insist on free-ranging their flock's are going to be the one's that are most effected.
