Arizona Chickens

I lost 4, five week olds to a huge hawk.

I've scared him a couple of times and haven't seen him in almost a week.

Mahonri, maybe you scared it into getting food somewhere else and it went over to pastrymama...

Our Harris Hawks are still hanging around. My chickens have been in lock down for a couple of months now. These darn hawks seem to really like the Aleppo Pines. Hopefully, they will leave the valley when it gets hot.

what do i do with them when she is done with them? sell them or does someone on here want them? i gave her 8 eggs that will be mixed breed.

I just wanted to share. We FINALLY got a truck! This means, I won't have to vacume hay out of the van, move seats to buy feed or borrowed Chrystals truck. Its nice being a 2 car family again! Its a 98 and has been loved a lot. I drove it yesterday, and promptly ran over the curb and park very badly.

Congratulations! Since it's "old" and nobody cares about the shiny finish, have your kids paint some chickens on it. Feast for the kids, chuckle for the rest of the world

. (Just send your husband to watch a football game in the meantime...)

Thanks! I will give it a try.

I use a hanging feeder, too, but field mice are ninjas. I've seen them jump from the ground up on top of a knee-high rubbermaid container. I've had really good luck catching those with the humane "catch and release" traps from home depot (around $3) using peanut butter as bait. Hopefully the peppers will repel all things fuzzy so I can be done with the traps though.

Really, no one wants my ameraucana rooster? Anyone?
