Arizona Chickens

Congratulations! Since it's "old" and nobody cares about the shiny finish, have your kids paint some chickens on it. Feast for the kids, chuckle for the rest of the world

. (Just send your husband to watch a football game in the meantime...)

Can't do that. Hubby needs to drive it around muddy. He's been driving the mini van for 2 years.lol It will boost his confidence.

All this talk about mice and hens eating dog poo had me up and out cleaning up the yard. What a grouse thought, also for the mice we have a cat and two of the neighbor cats hang out here. One day I did leave the feed open outside only to find it tipped and half eaten by morning. I was ticked... blamed the cats, the dog, the mice the wild-birds.. everyone but me.

I introduced my flocks to one another today, thought there would be fighting. Instead Roo got right to work with introductions and went right back to foraging. Even my hubby called him a dog. After awhile the flocks split off again into their own territory. So all is well.

I did roll the window down and look out because I couldn't see infront of the truck to tell how much room I had on each side. Lol

Haha I guess that's fair. Boy, I walked right in to that one.

Wasn't someone looking for hen saddles last week? Just saw this banner ad at the top of the page - http://www.hensaver.com/

I officially can't gather the days eggs with just my hands anymore. I've tried piling 6 in to one hand the last 2 days and dropped one both days. The dog loves it, but I'm not a fan.

Ok guys... help me out here.

For months a few months before my black ameraucana started to lay, I got green eggs from this girl -

Then my black ameraucana started to lay, and they were green as well. I was bummed, because I was certain she would lay blue. Oh well, cool colors are cool colors and I was happy they weren't brown or white since I have plenty of that.

So suddenly in the last week, someone's egg started being blue. Thrilled as I am, I'm SUPER confused, because I'm pretty sure that it's the cream one, who I thought was just a hatchery EE, because I watched them in the nest boxes over the weekend. Could I be wrong? Does it really matter? No.. will I still think about it? Yes.

Here they are together.

What do you think? Is it possible that one of them just suddenly switched colors??

Here are the eggs... they used to be identical in color. Now, not so much.

Does anyone in PHX want to give me some fertilized eggs? *puppy dog eyes*

I have TWO broody silkies and I bet they can handle half a dozen between them!

I'll be there on Saturday

TT- I have some eggs. PM me.

Cluckin - I used to have 3 EE's that laid green eggs, periodically I would get a pinkish egg. I saw the hen lay down, then get up a few minutes later and left be hind a pink egg. I banded her leg and sold her. The next week I found another pink egg. So I'm assuming the answer would be yes because I would get 3 eggs that were green and randomly a pink egg.

Wow.. that's more drastic than green to blue... alright well I guess they're both EEs then! Crazy. I found this other pic on my phone that shows a better blue but I sold this one today. Glad I had taken a better pic.

Guess which ones didn't figure out that you can stay dry by going inside the coop?

Why I'm starting to worry that at least one of the 2 olive eggers I kept of NoSkivees' is a roo... that is definitely a curly tail feather... at less than 3 months old...

Also, since I'm pretty sure none of you are web stalkers, and I've met about half of you anyway, my real name is Brittney
