Arizona Chickens

Becky, my 12yo loves to do her schoolwork on the trampoline holding her little silkie, too. Today she was convinced her little Ellie was not feeling well and was so worried. She fed her some gatorade and we are hoping for the best. And our friends can't relate, either.

NoSkiveez, we always get an ultrasound. I think it would be fun to be surprised, but I suppose that will never happen. My poor husband always needs the last half of the pregnancy to get excited about having another girl and giving up his dream of having a son. I can handle the disappointment at the ultrasound, but it would be hard to take at the birth. Plus, if we had a boy, we would have a lot of changes to make! Everything in our house is pink or princess! Five girls in a row kind of changes all the rules.

It's hard to be too disappointed that the EE's are not real Ameraucanas. They are very cute, with the two-tone feathers and fluffy cheeks. They are super sweet and docile. What more could I want? Now I am just hoping that they turn out to be great layers.

opportunity to raise certain breeds
but most of the time its not possible
i was told by my cardiologist
that my heart condition was going
to result in death but they do not
know how much time i have left
and was just sad every day
my father is on dialysis and he
would just sleep, everyday
he likes certain breeds
but i dont knowif he
is going to be able to have the
opportunity to raise them
i gave thanks to god everyday
i wake up for giving me another day
to live i always take great care of my animals
and during the summer i give them
vitamins and electrolytes so they
can stand the hot summer months

turkeybreeder, I'm so sorry to hear about your heart and your father. It's no fun when mortality pokes at you with a stick everyday. I hope your father gets to see you raise those breeds he loves.

Anybody want a free silkie rooster? We are kind of sad to get rid of him, but he just isn't doing well here anymore. He was such a nice, docile rooster. But, since we now have another rooster, it has triggered something in him. He has started acting a little too aggressive for my comfort. For my 12yo, it is really just an annoyance. He's little and I doubt he could really hurt her. But, my 2yo is on the small side and I just worry he may come after her someday. I *think* he would stop acting like that if he got somewhere without other roosters. We are pretty far south, but will be coming to Tucson Friday and I can meet anyone who wants to take him. It wouldn't break my heart if he ended up in a soup pot, but he seems too small to be worth the effort. He takes good care of his girls and does his business.

Don't underestimate him. The one that got me so good was not much bigger than a Silkie at all. He was a very small rooster. If the bruises weren't so higgh up my leg I would show pics. They are the deep blackish purple color, and I was wearing jeans!
