Arizona Chickens

.Pastrymama, My sister warns toe rings.... I'm afraid of something falling on my toe and the ring becoming crimped. Then the crimped ring cuts off the blood to the toe, I get gangrene, then my foot will be amputated. Then I will have to get a wooden foot, which will develop wood rot. Then I will fall down and break my noise............ Of course my nose will bleed, I will not be able to stop it, and I bleed to death. All because of a toe ring.
this is absolutely hilarious. exactly the kind of hamster wheel i have in my head, always thinking of the worst case scenario!

demosthine, i just caught up on this thread and read your other about sunshine and i am so sorry for your families loss. were you ever able to determine what it was?
i had a young one end up like that and she died in my hands, she was my first loss, i believe it was heat stroke in my case. my mom just lost a hen that we think was egg bound, but cant be sure because we dont think she ever laid an egg in her young life.
its always difficult to accept when there is no explanation.

Anyone down in South Central or Southeastern AZ? I am looking to check out some chicken watering systems before I am hauling water again next summer. If you have something neat or unique, I would love to visit and see it.

I live in Vail also, I just use nipples. Screwed them right into the bottom of buckets, and I just hang the buckets. With a 5 gallon bucket, I wouldn't have to refill their water for a month or so....

Ran out to Queen Creek this morning. LONG drive. 42 mintues there, 37 back.

Got 10 W/BW Ameraucanas. I'm going to try and put a few under Blucy my 2nd broody Icelandic.

I pray she is kind to them. She's been on the nest now for over two weeks.

Handsome, I wish I washable to have just one roo :thumbsup. Mary Christmas. Enjoy and peace

In about 3 days my girls will be out of the house their coop and pin will be finish. They think night is in my dinning room, they may not be happy at first. But I will love having a clean dinning room, no wood chips flying through the air.
