Not too worried about bats. Tons in this neighborhood(Speedway/Pantano), but the run and coop will be fully enclosed.

Made some more progress on the Green Dragon Roost. We lost one of the Barred Rock chicks this morning. She died in our hands. We tried nursing her along, but she just couldn't make it.  My daughter (10yr) took it hard, but I reminded her we still have 15 chicks that need our love and attention.

BATS!. I love bats, I wish they did not have such a bad rap or so famous for caring rabies. Bats will keep the flying bugs down. In the 60's there were so many bats here in Phoenix. I loved to watch at night eating bugs around lights. When I found out that with out bats some desert plants would go extinct, I liked them even more.

I never order staight run anymore. If they advertise pullets, I order and pay for pullets. I know that you do not have that choice with bantams and Polish from Ideal but I've seen other hatcheries that do advertise pullets in the Polish breed. It is tough to have too many rooster, I have been there. I have been getting my chicks from BYC peeps also.

Polish come in both largefowl and bantam versions.

Polish come in both largefowl and bantam versions.

Yup I know and some hatcheries only carry large fowl Polish and say they will sell pullets but who know ?
