Arizona Chickens

Well, that was a long day! Some morons in front of us decided to slam on their brakes for a school bus, even though it's stop sign wasn't out. My wife couldn't stop fast enough and rear ended one of them. Fortunately, I'm completely ok with maybe a slightly sore ankle tomorrow. My wife injured her entire left arm from the shoulder down. Sometimes I think the seatbelts do more damage than good. They can save lives, bit they've been the cause of fatalities, too.

The truck, however, is quite likely totalled. Nearly 180k miles, over 12 years old and both airbags deploying, I don't foresee them fixing it.

Night all!

I'm sorry to hear about the accident. :hugs I've seen something like that in the past. In the city it is impossible to keep you breaking distance. That is why I prefer overland driving. There you have opportunity to have really dumb accidents, because of not paying attention do to nothing going on. In the city, all kinds of things are going on, like the guy stopping when there is no reason to stop. I thank God every day I get home.

I hope your wounds heal quickly.

ArizonaChicken - that buttercup girl is lovely! I'd love to add one to my flock - someday.

Demosthine - DANG! Hope everything comes out okay. Also scary about the injury to your wife - I use my belts but am always scared something ugly like that will happen - I use a belt keeper to move it over a bit - probably not the best but its what I do! The PHX valley - to me anyway - is a crazy place. My head is always on a swivel! PLUS I often have a handicap rack and power chair with me on the vehicle! Always on point!!!

LadyDK - You should raise Basil - bet he'd be a barrel of laughs watching his antics!!

Oh no.. That is such a bummer.. Hope you guys are ok.. :)

Oh geez, I hope you are ok. Make sure you get checked out by a doctor. Sometimes things show up a few days later that you don't feel right away. I hope you will be ok. Take good care of yourselves. Sorry about the truck. That sucks too.

:gig you said a mouth full there with Phx driving. BUT, try driving in D.C. Half the people can't drive but have diplomatic immunity, a license to drive with no responsibility and fear of reproductions, some of whom believe in class privilege, in other words anyone of a lower class dose not count as a life. [ :rant yes I am angry..... I am not satisfied that this person had to return home, and can not return to US lands and holdings. ]. On a scale of 1 to 10, I consider myself a 5, and I know I am a better driver 50% of the time then 90% of the people driving. Half the time I drive in the City, I forget to drive defensively, that SCARES me to death.

I am planing on keeping him, BUT, I think he is a male, I can not have a rooster. If he is a rooster, I will try to re-home him, but if he continues as he is no mater were he goes Camp freezer may be his future. In the mean time he will keep me busy. Right now he loves free ranging. The other two have no outstanding personality traits, they are more of a flock try. As for Sylvia she is developing her personality. SWEET PEA & Voney 2 are yet to young.

Thanks for the compliments on my buttercup. Since I have a boy AND a girl, I will probably breed them just to get a couple more. I hear they have high fertility rates. Buttercups, I've read, can be "flighty". But they are excellent foragers and really good at evading predators. The hen will lay a smallish white egg. I also hear the the roosters can be pretty dumb, so we'll see. So far, they don't seem any more flighty than my other chickens. And they sure are pretty! I enjoy the eye candy!
