Arizona Chickens

See I made him a little safe house. He is so tiny!!! Crap this means I will now have quail.
I have watched 4 sets of Quail parents with their babies for the last month. there were 20 and now there are 9. The dad sits on the fence and sounds an alarm when something comes out. Just adorable.
Wow, poor little guys, wonder what is getting them?

so in a few hours we will be on our way to Phx. my husband thought his appt was in Tempe but its in Scottsdale off the 101. I am bringing 10 bags of feed from Desert Marcy and the seed box. I am guessing we are going to be weighed down quite a bit going up as that is 500 lbs of feed. thankfully my van is efficient lol. I am excited to meet everyone who is coming. City Farm will message anyone that wants to meet where (what restaurant) we are going to meet at. We are meeting at 3:00 pm. :)

Ps I also found 6 baby gamblers quail from someone who had a hatching in her yard and the parents abandoned them. I will pick up on my way home tomorrow.

Agh, how exciting!! See ya all soon...

Desert Marcy we are late to your house because our printer refused to work and my husband needs his DD214 so a quick stop at office max and on our way to you.

Give her a call, she'll appreciate it.

So in this batch I got a blue Orpington and a white Silkie. I've never had a bantam and also never had a chicken as large as an Orp. Seeing River and Bunny together is adorable. They seemed to have become a duo in the new batch of chicks as I was really hoping they would. I want to make sure Bunny has a protector out in the yard when they are put out with the other chickens.

Agh, how cute.. :cd

That little White Silkie sure is pretty.

Thanks. She has such beautiful form and great posture. I am loving the new babies. They aren't as friendly as the first batch, so I have some work to do socializing them. I think because the 4 we got last year were feed store and so they were exposed to people all day every day and were probably a week or so old when we got them. I am trying to spend time with the new girls little by little. They're warming up a tiny bit, especially if food is involved. I know they don't stay little and cute for long so here's a couple more pics from today, about 2 weeks old.
