Arizona Chickens

Spoiled brat she is.. Your really get to enjoy her.. Will you post photo's of her?? Maybe you could enter the BYC 2016 calendar ???

* So far, it says it's embedding the pic and then Nothing. So I'm uploading pics to PhotoBucket. As soon as I get the link, I'll post it. *

Same here.. It happened to me a few times this week. I think BYC has down time or something. If I use my phone, it has to be on mobile app, not desk top.. Try both and see what works.. The photos I just posted were old ones in my photo album..

Actually, I was looking up all of the hatches we had this last summer. You would think I would know.
Our guy started about 1 month ago.. So you are close to hearing him. His comb still looks small and not a bright red color.. Burt's comb seemed to turn darker and larger in about a 2 week time period.. Your bird's look happy.. Love the photo's.. We only have the rooster.. Then next few we might keep will hopefully be a hen..
Actually, this photo was taken about a month ago. I can't believe the changes so fast, when they get to this point. Today it's rainy and quite wet, but I need to get out for updated photos. The breeder I got my eggs from (in Oregon) is excited about the coloring on our pullet and wants to use it for genetics with her future hatches and egg sales.

Awesome, is your bird's from Greenfire Farms? 1 st or 2nd generation ? I guess GFF had 2 different lines? Idk or care.. We are using for breeding, just egg's

* I believe it. PhotoBucket is slow today. My SF was a little wet when I took her pic. So she looks a bit rough. I'll take more pics when she dries off. Next week, I'm going to do more work on the back property. We took out the fence that hooked up to the gate. Gotta grade all the rocks into into a pile and dig some trenches for a drip line. Hopefully by Summer, it'll all be done. My garden too.

how's everyone doing with the rain tonight? It's great for my fruit trees in my yard and so my lawn greens up in the back by the chickens!

Well, I am northwest of Tucson a bit, and we are getting hammered. Going to put a major dent in this weekends construction plans.

Rain is great! I keep checking the chicks in the outside brooder, though. This year the brooder is up on a concrete slab instead of directly on the ground. I added a couple of inches of play sand to the bottom of the brooder, with a couple of inches of pelleted bedding on top of that. The brooder is leaking a little bit on the most exposed corner, which is away from the heated area. The pelleted bedding is expanding in that damp corner. By morning the chicks may have their very own mountain 'o bedding to play "king of the hill" on, LOL!

Heat lamp and Sweeter Heater are not in danger of getting wet and that section of the brooder is dry as a bone, so all is good.
