Arizona Chickens

I need help regarding some traumatized chickens.  Found two of my chickens out in the yard last night cold, wet and one was bleeding from puncture wounds.  Thought the other one was dead but when I picked her up she was still breathing.  No blood except for tiny spots where her feathers had been pulled out.  Brought them in and wrapped them in towels and then put heated towels over top.  They are both alert this morning but the one with the puncture wounds can't stand very well.  Gonna clean her up and check for any other wounds but wanted to wait until she was more alert.  Any suggestions on what I can give them to help them recover?

Poor sweeties. If you find open wounds, I would think an antibiotic would help keep infection away. If you can keep them comfortable there I would keep them close to the rest of the flock, being able to see their friends might comfort them some.

I think so, I will text and ask.. She is a BYC member so if she private messages you, hopefully you will get some.. What other breeds do you have?

Poor things! Do you know what got to them?

You can put antibiotic ointment on them like Neoporin, just make sure to use the kind without pain relief ingredients because chickens are allergic to them.

I have a mystery chick I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me identify. It's supposed to be a Silver Grey Dorking, but most definitely is not. I've never seen anything quite like it. It's 4 weeks old now, and any guesses would be most appreciated.

Whatever it is it's one cool looking chicken!

No idea what this chicken might be, but I love her headgear! Reminds me of a 20's style flapper headdress

Me too! Right now I'm thinking it may be a cockerel, but if it turns out to be a pullet I think I'll change the name from "Q" to "Fancy". I think I'll cross this with one of my frizzle Easter Eggers....just for my own amusement at seeing how the offspring turn out.

They are so cute! What are their personalities like?

So far they seem to be doing okay. I cleaned the one up and covered the wounds with antibiotic cream (Neosporin). I've been feeding them grapes and scrambled eggs and force feeding them water with electrolytes to keep them hydrated. They don't seem interested in grain of any sort but will eat grapes and eggs and meal worms so I'll keep trying to feed them some grain. The one with the puncture wounds is still have trouble standing on the left side but I'm hoping it's nothing broken. Did a thorough check and can't find any broken bones. There's two chickens together in one box so they keep each other company. The only predator problem I have in this neighborhood is dogs, Lost two of my hens and the two that were attacked - only dogs do this kind of damage.

Oh man I want her!! It was runners or Muscovy's for us. We went with Muscovy's for the soft quack.. Are runners loud?
