Arizona Chickens

Praise God if you don't live in an HOA. The Home Owners ASSASSINATION did a drive-by a few days ago and gave me a final warning. Huh? All my weeds were removed, but they grew back after the rains again, looking as if I didn't do anything in the first place. If it's not taken care of, they'll bring someone out to remove my weeds, then charge me, then call me in for a hearing? Step foot on my property, and their asses will have to deal with me. You can't physically haul me in and I will have an attorney. Some of these HOA's need to be shut down, because they seem like they have the power to supercede anything imposed by the City or County. If I had the funds, I would move out to the boonies in a heartbeat, not before getting a petition to take them down. --BB

We get notices about weeds from Scottsdale even though we don't live in an HOA. We're apparently responsible for the street side of the block wall that surrounds our back yard and they expect us to go out and weed and rake over there and the last time they also came around the front and told us to trim our tree which was barely hanging down over 7 ft above the sidewalk and that there was too much debris in our driveway because we're the only people on our street with multiple trees hanging over our driveway which drop seed pods and stuff in the summer. I'm sorry but I'm not going to sweep them up every day when it's 115 degrees out. Cleaning up the road side of the wall is a pain in the butt too because you either have to drag a ladder over the wall to get back and forth or drive all the way out of our complex and park on the side of the street while you're cleaning then drive back bags full of dirt and bugs in your car to put them out for pickup. Scottsdale should clean the side of the **** road.

I just saw a thread for the ugliest chicken picture, and entered my ameraucana/olive egger/mutt rooster. Judging will commence after 5 entries have been made, so dont be shy, dig out a pic of one of your "less than SOP" chickens and give it a shot!

way to go!!! high five!

So how do you can chicken? Cook it first?
You can do it either way. When I do skinned and boned chicken, I usually cook it first to make it easier to cut up into chunks.I put the chunks in the jar and top up with broth and a little marjoram. I did the pints this way this weekend. You can also put the chicken in the jars raw, and add broth or not, the chicken will make its own juice when it cooks. To save time, I did the quarts this way. Just pack the raw chicken thighs/drumsticks into the jars, add about 1/2 tsp of pure salt, cap and process. If the chicken has bones, it actually processes quicker than deboned chicken. I did peel the skin off before packing into the jars.

Yard is all cleaned. I called the guy for a reinspect. Haven't heard back. In the meantime, it's rained a lot the last 2 days. I'll probably have to do it all over again this weekend.

@bobby
Homeowners assassination, sounds like you have it right! Lol
Sorry you have to deal with that garbage and I feel for you.~ :hugs
I don't always have the opportunity reply to everything that I read and I have a lot of empathy for some of the issues we have to deal with in our neighborhoods with our chickens.

... I also have no homeowners association here in Mesa where I live, and back in the day when I was pregnant with my second child, I received a citation on my yard in the front. It was for 6 to 8 inches tall a few pieces & patches of grass I missed underneath my orange tree, when the rest of the yard was immaculate. I told the the Mesa city ordinance lady that, that was the best I could do for it at seven months pregnant for my yard there and at the time didn't have extra money to hire somebody to do more for me. I couldn't believe they were picking on me & other elderly folks like that. I would've understood if my whole yard was maybe 8 inches tall and trashy looking, that might've made more sense. I also feel she should've offered me some volunteer or group of volunteers it might've come to help for those that are not always able and who may be less fortunate due to health issues, age etc. etc.

Unfortunately this iPad won't let me access the website from the desktop icon I have on it, so I'm sorry if I didn't put the at correctly, I can't quite remember exactly what the quotes are for that.
