Does anyone have experience with a Styrofoam incubator?
It keeps bouncing the temperature from 95-112 , That's way to wide a margin to have a successful hatch... and I don't know how to stabilize it.
Also, where in the incubator am I supposed to put the thermostat, the temperature seems to also vary by where the thermostat is sitting...
Any help would be appreciated... thanks

It just must be the one that you are using. I use a Styrofoam incubator myself. It's a Little Giant still air Item #9200. I have done a hatch this past spring and one again 2 months ago, and had no problems with mine.

The 9200 says it has solid state thermostat control, ,
Mine apparently does not have a control.

That was the hope....
But it does not seem very likely, unless I figure out how to stabilize the temperature in this incubator, or stumble across another one.

Or if there was someone who lived near you and had an incubator that might let you add your eggs in there, if they were planning to also do a hatch and had some extra room?

Is that wafer thing the control? I've never used an incubator that had a wafer type thermostat, but I've read about them. They can be finicky and they can stop working, but they can also be replaced. I have no idea how they work or how to replace them. Hope you can figure it out.

For those of you going to the Poultry Show at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson this weekend (Nov 19-20), a quick note about parking: The poultry show is in Thurber Hall. Make sure to park over in the dirt lot by Thurber Hall. Over by where the dog show is set up they are trying to charge dog show people for parking. Poultry show parking on the other end of Thurber Hall is FREE.

This info is passed along from someone else. I do not know which lot is the "dirt lot" but it appears to be NOT near the dog show.
