Yes, I do love the blues. Blacks have a beautiful beetle green sheen in the sun though. Also the sweetest personalities, and very gentle. My black Aussie I already had was the mommy in the group when they were all chicks.

The Aussies are also very heat tolerant. One of the most important to me. Hope to add some splash hens to my flock in the spring.

@BlueBaby I thought I read that the Rattlesnake Ridge breeder wasn't breeding any more because of health issues? If I'm wrong I'm happy! I really like these birds and might get some eggs then if I decide to keep just the Aussies.

Yes I did leave the 2 older chicks with my friend. She loves them! She called me last night to tell me how happy her mom is. They may be interested in mire chicks or possibly hatching eggs from you in the future.

That might be so, as a few months back, Kurt had mentioned that his wife had had a stroke of something like that. He may have had to give up the breeding's to be able to help his wife, and I know that he also had something going on with him healthwise too.

So, I guess it's up to us to help build this breed up like it should be. I am really excited that your grandson will be working with one of my babies and showing it in the 4H. We are supposed to be working towards getting the Blues recognized. There are so few breeders here in the states. The Blue roosters though can sometimes develop a red bleed in the wings or neck feathers later on after grown. The red is a bled from the Buff Orpington if they used that color of Orp in the back breeding (throwback). As you know, I also just had 2 chicks hatch out that had a bit of feathering on the legs or feet (throwback of the Langshan). Both of those types should not be used as future breeders as they will pass it on to future chicks.

I care about this breed, and I'm not charging an outrageous price on them as chicks. I try to be honest to develop a good name. That's why I didn't want you to have the 2 that had the feathers on the legs. If females, they might be good for just laying eggs, but not for showing or breeding.

They are non-hatchery standard-sized breeders Australorps. I have been hatching out eggs from my small flock. The chicks can hatch out in 3 colors, the Black, Blue, or Splash.

Now that I've read about them, I'm seriously considering keeping only these birds as my flock diminishes and breeding in the future. We shall see, the husband has said it would be interesting to see what kind of babies we get if one if these is a roo. Made me smile!

Keep that info on that paper that I printed out for you. You might need it to help you in the future breedings. I am also available to help or answer any questions that you might have. You already have my email addy, and my phone number (and you know where I live).

interesting i saw on a website that autralorps are a aussie take on orpington i think the blues are pretty

The breeder's Australorps are more relaxed in the tail feathers than the hatchery ones are. The hatchery ones tail feathers look more pinched from the back of the bird.

These aren't a small breed like your little silkies are. The Boys can weigh at least 8 lbs., and the girls 6 to 6/1/2 pounds.
