Arizona Chickens

I'm a little hot under the collar this morning. Coworker that I've given some eggs to asked me for a dozen and I had to say no because my neighbor asked for 2 eggs over the weekend so she didn't have to go to the store, I gave her dozen and she gave me cookies. Good trade, right? Yes, it was a good trade because the cookies are damn good.

My coworker has an attitude about not getting free eggs! Excuse me? So, I told her I'm charging $3.50 for a dozen eggs, $4.50 if you don't bring your own carton now. I have expenses to cover. She's not happy. She can go to walmart and buy her eggs then.
Haha we must have the same neighbor. Mine is now comfortable asking for a dozen a week, and it's like it's expected! If these hungry neighbors want eggs so bad, they can raise their own flock! Or like you said, go to wal-mart & leave me alone. My chickens have better manners than most people!

Would anyone within the Southeast part of the state (I'm in Bisbee) like to split an order of Bantam Mille Fleur day old chicks with Hoover's Hatchery $4.20 per chick / 15 chick minimum (free shipping) / next ship date January 9. They usually ship a couple of extra chicks so it will most likely still be odd but we can adjust for whoever gets the extra chick if it ends up being an odd number. I have a warm room in my house set aside for delicate birds and chicks, so I can board your chicks for a few days if you can't get pick yours up right away. They ship on Tuesdays and I've received mine the next day. They ship with Grogel and straw liner in a small box to keep the babies warm. I can pick up early at the post office which is very close to my house. I love the breed but I just don't have the room for 15 once they are grown.
I love this breed, but I can't take on any babies right now. Otherwise I would probably be bugging @BlueBaby for some little ones  Thank you for the offer though, I hope someone takes you up on it. Good luck!

I couldn't believe my ears when she talked to me! I told her I have feed costs, it takes 3 lbs of feed to get a dozen eggs, plus my fuel and coop maintenance so if you want eggs regularly you pay. Otherwise I don't mind giving away my extras but those also go to my neighbors because they don't complain about the racket.

Yeah, and wait until she sees the "Sell By" date on most of Walmart's eggs and produce...especially MEAT. We're talking next-day dates.

I'll save Walmart for buying deodorant and other toiletries.

Talking about Walmart I bought a truck battery with a 2 year free replacement warranty. About 6 months later it tested bad, went to replace it. They charged me a core charge and the difference on the new one. I told them what they were doing was not correct , even got a manager. Boy oh boy was I angry, I emailed corporate. The store I purchased it from contacted me and gave me a gift card for my inconvenience. I was still angry and avoided that store. Well 7 months later that battery died, charging system works fine. I was told no more replacement. WTF I got 13 months out of 2 battery's and they claim no more replacements , don't trust Walmarts 2 year free replacement warranty. I live in a very small town not many other choices for purchasing supplies. I will pay more elsewhere and not support that corporation.

Walmart is frustrating. I don't understand why the store is so big when the most of the things I want say "ships in 1-2 days to the store from Amazon etc."

I was gonna make a run there when all other stores were closed and they're open 24/7. All I wanted was some wood & sheet metal screws for a project (to be revealed later), and they said again, "Ships in 1-2 days from blah, blah, blah". Geez, there's a hardware section in there and still have to order on line?

The only good thing about them in my book is that my bottle of Brandy is about $4.00 cheaper than other places. Other than that, I avoid them because they're not always the cheapest in town.

I can't stand walmart. Their salmon is farmed in China by North Korean workers. Part of their pay goes to what's his name. No thanks. I try not to buy anything there these days.

I can't understand the mentality of people who expect to receive all the time but have nothing to give in return. I have no problem of giving without expecting anything in return, but when a person makes a career of constantly expecting, then I take issue with that.

It took me several years to finally take the plunge in November ordering 12 chicks, over-compensating thinking that it would be a bit much for one person and/or they wouldn't all survive the shipping. But, dagg-nabbit, they ALL survived and are quite feisty at five weeks old now.

As far as friends go, there has been one coworker who has had my back for at least the last 10 years, and she's an avid baker and married into a Polish family who loves lots of pasta and perogies (sp), so there's a lot of flour and dough going on there.

She's definitely earned my free eggs when they arrive, because you can't put a price on someone who has always been there in time of need.

There are some folks at Church who used to raise chickens decades ago who wouldn't mind a dozen of fresh eggs every now and then.

Giving is an awesome thing, and it's really more wonderful when people appreciate what you've done for them...sometimes, it comes in their low points of life and you've made their day.

It would be nice if folks would appreciate what you do and not take advantage and "expect" something from you all the time.

I'm hoping to have more eggs than I need, and can't wait to bless a few folks near and dear to me. There is no desire to go into the egg selling business any time soon. You reap what you sew.

I thought that Walmart would be the saving grace way out here at I-10 and Houghton Road and it only takes about 10 minutes to get there.

Check your local grocery stores for meat/produce, especially salads/lettuce. Often times, their prices win hands down. I won't buy meat from Walmart with their next day "sell by" dates. What's up with that...selling meat that late? Where do they get it from?
