Arizona Chickens

Wow! I didn't realize that the AZ. club is more interesting to a Californian than the CA. club is. Are you planning on moving over here to Arizona?
I think that we (in my opinion) have a more diverse cross section of folks here from the dedicated breeders to the humble backyard keeper. They are real keepers for sure, and I'm honored to be a part of them.

I believe the AZ forum is a good resource, especially if one is living in a climate similar to ours, and you will truly benefit from going through the many topics and issues that have been presented here.

Kudos again to the AZ forum, and welcome to Jenni Chickie!

I live in Southern CA, Northridge, about 25 miles from L.A. up in the hills of Porter Ranch. About 15 miles from the beach. The other week it was 100 degrees here in PR. Finally have some winter here this week. It's a freezing 68 today. :}
We used to live in Reseda, Porter Ranch is very pretty :) Our need for lots of land brought us back home to AZ about a decade ago, and we don't miss the traffic! But I do miss the beach and beautiful weather...our garden was so effortless and low maintenance too.

Today was a success! We got bratty barred rock Reese fitted into some new peepers, and peace has been restored in the coop. Her aggression changed the whole dynamic, causing normally docile birds to be on the edge. This time I won't be removing the peepers unless I get a rooster. Little miss just got herself some new permanent head gear.

Some of us would be able to give you a free rooster if you need one! :gig

Yikes!!! I have one hen that lays some extra wrinkly eggs like that, but they're just long... not nearly that big.

Also, if you're interested SonoranChick, I'll have a nice black naked neck rooster available in April. I just want to get a few more black NN chicks out of him, but he's not quite meaty enough to keep after that for breeding for me. But the girls like him. :) He'll be a year old.
