So for awhile now I've had the Jersey Giant boy and the Light Brahma boy in a pen of their own because I wasn't ready to breed them and they grew up together so they get along enough to be locked up together. Today a chick from another pen squeezed through the fencing into their pen, which happens at times. The Brahma started picking on it and the JG boy lunged at him and made his stop. Protecting the chick. This isn't the first time he's done it, either. I really like that he's such a sweetie and protective of any chicks that sneak into their pen.
So tonight I just went ahead and moved the Brahma out and into a temp cage, and put 3 black naked neck girls into the pen with the JG. He's never had his own girls before so it'll be interesting to see tomorrow how it goes. He's so big, and their so small! I really hope he's as gentle as he seems...![]()
Look's like you have just rewarded him for saving the chick from the other roo!
