Arizona Chickens

Terrible day in my house. Had to cull my first chick. He was hatched with either splay leg or slipped tendon and no matter what I tried he didn’t get better. He never grew much. The others would step all over him and and when I put him in another pen all he did was cry. He is in a better place without pain but it still hurts.

Yes, it does hurt when you have to do that, but he would have either been picked on his whole life or you would have had to keep him separated from the other's. You also wouldn't have been able to breed him.

On a lighter note. My co-pilot today. Took Norman to work with me. And yes he is on my shoulder

Many of them also believe that there should be no domestic animals at all. Only wild ones. And any animal that's domesticated enough to not be able to live in the wild should not exist. They see killing them as merciful to man-made abominations.
Just google "PETA Kills".
Wonder how many of those have a steak every now and then.. We've got a over populated area that the BLM is suppose to be controlling their numbers and they are not doing their jobs, we had "save the burro's" people come from Phoenix to speak, wondered how many went home with a burro..

I bet his eye's got big and his mouth flew open when you told him that! :lau

He did get a worried look on his face, he knows that if I would not live in it, I'm not going to let me animals live in it..lol.. He made the mistake of thinking he could get by with adding a couple of extra feet to the old coop and run.. notice I said mistake, it didn't happen, I did compromise, the run didn't end up as big as I would have liked it.

So, it seem's like it is being spread here to AZ. through those Poultry show's that people are taking their chicken's to. @Michelle Guynn need's to know about this.

I think if I were buying chickens, I'd be very weary about where I got them from.

I want a burro! Can't have one, but I want one.

When you decide that you are ready, get ahold of the BLM I guess and find out what they require. I know that you have to provide certain containment for them, I guess probably prove that you can afford the vet care for them..etc.. The people just got on my nerves from going "save the burro's" and then not doing anything to actually save them. You can adopt tortoises too. I have a friend who was recently looking for a girlfriend for his.. he's made them a safe burrow. Feeds them well.

I won't ever get burro, no room at the inn and I don't live where I can have one. I have considered a tortoise but I'm downsizing right now and probably won't do that either. My daughter is moving across the valley and we aren't going to be tied down with grandkids now.

I get what you mean though. It is irritating.
