Arizona Chickens

and the RIR's have a reputation for being aggressive with the other hens. I was complaining about my andalusian going broody. But, a couple of the other birds in the flock sneezed, and she's been through so much, she gets to stay. So maybe you could find a mellow bird that should tend to go broody, maybe a smaller NN or Dorking?
I had a RIR raised by home-schoolers that I bought at 5 months old. She would hover over 2 of her Black Star sisters (that were actually bigger than her) as if she were their mother if there was danger. She was the best chicken of my 2010 flock.

This is our SPECIAL annex of the Chicken fortresses for the Polish and 10 year old Floppy - now in a new pen (instead of the greenhouse (GH).
We relocated this from Mesa and just fixed it up for them - the inside blue box is new so they can roost in there at night for windblock since this is really just a covered run with chicken wire above & heavier lathe panels below that stand up to most predators here. Need to add some shadecloth later & a chicken ladder. Probably will add Floppy's crate down below since she doesn't really climb ladders anymore or fly up to roost.

I just put tarp and a roofing panel on the north side, they were fine all winter. You have more wind in Chino Valley than I do. LOOKS Good!

Ahhh 😌.... donation truck load is at goodwill, and tomorrow i finish the garage.. just have to organize what stays. Every room and drawer and closet in the house has been cleared out!

I need to finish my cabinet painting project next, need to hurry before we get into the 100s.. and then FINALLY i can work on the sand trays for the coop. I plan on painting it w a semi gloss as well. I was considering extending it, but i will work on a chicken playground instead. So excited!!

When we moved a few years ago we had LOTS of stuff that we gave to goodwill. It's crazy how much stuff you can accumulate when you have kids.
I have done so many trips this year!! Im done with toys though. They can have activity toys, like bikes, scooters, basketballs.. but inside, im done. But here I am thinking I'm a minimalist, and every drawer and cabinet had junk! Even things like first aid kits, once i collected them all from their different spots, there were 6+ of them and various supplies.

I can relate to that! I have one in each bathroom, each car, and the garage by the power tools.
