@Hermits Garden They also just had that big accident over on the 10 where a boxed trailer 18 wheeler crossed the median and hit 2 other boxed trailer semi's plus some other vehicles. The one that crossed the median rolled over and caught fire. Those good's would be destroyed. One of the truck's that it hit also rolled over and those good's may also be destroyed. Truck's have to deliver to the stores as the good's are not grown in the back of the store.

That is refereed to as shrinkage method. Have seen it over the years. If you notice in stores,,,,, most sugar bags are 4 pounds. They were 5 pounds for most of my life.
I have seen it with dry cat food bags. Then they come out with a larger bag,,, and call it a BONUS BAG... of course the price is also BONUS SIZED at that point.
That is a marketing strategy used often. I have no problem understanding price increases. Inflation is a real thing.. So are increased wages. Nothing is standing still..

Is your waterer a 2 vessel container???? The rubber, and other steel strip may aid in freeze prevention/protection.. Similarly how thermos bottles operate,,, but not that extreme. Thermos, utilizes vacuum space. Energy does not conduct thru vacuum much. Dead air is next option for insulation properties.

Anybody out there with bantam cubalayas, that will sale me hatching eggs. I order some day old chicks from Cackles, they were weak and only three survived. Two roos and one hen, not much to start a flock with. Cackle's appears to provide bantam cubalaya chicks for all the other hatcheries. I would like a different blood line, if I can find eggs. I am not in a hurry, but if I don't find eggs, I will probably order more chicks from Cackle around mid summer.

My way of describing that there is a container inside another container. Thus 2 vessels
You mentioned air gap.. which makes sense. Double walled describes same thing.

OK, I need to try again. I just posted about how a page here was not showing up on either of my computers, and posted hoping someone would see it so they'd know I wasn't ignoring anybody. It posted back in yesterday's comments, and afterward I could see this page. Other web sites seem normal. Weird.
