Arizona Chickens

Lots of very crackly thunder here. Clouds are scattered and passing over pretty quickly. I think I'll put off my shower for the moment...
I'm just getting a few sprinkles every now and then. Nothing substantial to write home about.

It's been so nice the last couple of days. Oh, and we got our cooler working. /whew

What feed do you all give your girls? I'm shopping around. Looking for a good balance between price and quality.
I was buying Nature's Best organic starter/grower at TSC. but 1) they stopped carrying the big bag 2) my birds are eating feathers like crazy! and growing slower than some of the same breed in previous years (though from different hatchery).

So, my next bag will be Purina organic starter/grower. I think Igors Mistress got better results with some purina anyway than with some other brand.

The last three of the 50-pound bag's of feed that I bought was at Tractor Supply. I bought it there because my local feed store has been having some bug's in their bag's of feed. The type of feed that I bought at Tractor Supply was the Dumor layer pellet's that was $17.99 per 50-pound bag. My flock seems to like it, as I have been filling up that feed bucket, and the head's keep going in there to eat it.

I picked up one of the Bielefelder girl's out there that's been laying egg's the other day, and she felt pretty hefty, and the crop was full.

That seems like a very reasonable price for sure.

If they are eating feather's they need more protein.
