Yes, I had a short break in eggs but my gals started up again after their molt. I’m getting 4 to 5 eggs a day now. They will slow down or stop next winter most likely so if you can I suggest you store any extras you get in summer if you don’t want to buy store eggs next winter. I’m going to try both freezing and waterglassing to see which works better. I think the water glass option will be the easiest.
Yes cold and we are on the western slight slope of Chino Valley so the sun sets early (less daylight=fewer eggs). The greenhouse keeps wind off them and maximizes light so they lay more (when they get used to it). Another coop is quite dark and they lay the fewest eggs since I only turn light on to get them into the coop at nite (not to make them lay more eggs).

Sunday my husband saw one when we were giving the chickens extra time outside their run. Made me so nervous I coaxed them back in the run (thankfully they're little piggies so that's not too hard to do!).
Yes, I guess this hawk is still trying to figure out how to get into the run to get mine. There should be some free-range chicken's at one of the neighbor's that it could grab a quick meal at.
Yes, those hawk's seem to be out in droves now.
