Since the electricity came back on, I decided to make a chocolate sourdough bread (using discard). First time that I made this, my discard was too thick and it had chunks of dough in it. This time I made sure it was able to be incorporated well.

We all made it home in one piece. I was too tired to set up incubator yesterday so will get it going today - Those eggs are so beautiful! Can't wait to see how many I get out of this hatch and the broody one sitting on 8 eggs.

Ok FIRE ANTS!
These guys like usual are back. In the past I've always sworn by Amdro Ant Block. Apply it twice a year, for the most part no worries.
Now we have chickens. They don't open range but they do graze in tempary runs, yards and their tractor. I'm worried about ant killer contaminating the ground where they may forage.
I've used cayenne water in the hole, DE food grade on and near area. These clear them so I am able to keep their run free on fire ants, if I see them but they just move somewhere else.
I have yet to try the boiling water, I'm clumsy and just read about it.
What's your chicken friendly ways to get rid of these fire ants?
