Yup...shane's business IS to stop a truck going 45 MPH! (The DH builds access gates, for those of you who dont understand why we are giggling)

I just need a second "enclosure" so I can run two breeding groups. On the lookout for a cheap dog run or something. I am trying VERY hard not to ask Shane to build anything else. Resisting....

Agreed! I saw something like this at The Feed Barn the other day. Me Want!! I know my chooks need the fortress, but I like for the fortress to be pretty! I am a very aesthetic person and it bothers me to look at that chain link all silver and garish. Maybe I could paint it...

I would love to have more than 15 chickens, too, and that's my limit on the one I have. Laree, maybe your hubby enjoyed that process so much that he wants to come do that in my yard!

I want the second enclosure so I can seperate Patch with select hens and then set Cinnabun up with his future hens. The sooner I get him in there, the longer he can romance them.

Wah! The only fertile eggs I can find in Tucson are americuana and americuana crosses (I can get EE eggs crossed with buff orphingtons, black sexlinks, production reds, redcaps, rhode islands, new hamshire/delawares, buttercups, brown leghorns, or barred rocks).

Would any of those combination produce anything fun?

And, of course, peacock eggs. Like I need a peacock!

I don't think my husband will let me order eggs, but I might have to start begging and pleading him. Shipping is just so expensive.

On the pet enclosure - I want one too. I sent her an email to get an idea on what it would cost. Likely outside my comfort zone, but I thought I'd ask. I asked for the price of the one in the picture and what the dimensions are. Any guesses on what the price will be?

Political Posters: The chicken owner by the LDS Temple in Mesa that has them in their front yard has a sign on one side of their coup.

Cluckin - I've been thinking about those tomatoes.

Runny Poo - any ideas on possible causes of the runny poo that leaves white wash all over the black behinds of my 4 non-broody hens might be?

BAD NEWS & QUESTION:

Last night at 6pm, Sommer took a "mini-flock" over to her friend's Cal's house. It consisted of 7 hens and 3 roosters--all to be another "Aloha Project" flock. Sommer also gave 2 roos to her next door neighbor, and kept 4 or 5 from the same brooder pen for herself.

This morning, Cal called Sommer. When he went to feed them, all 10 chickens were dead. The pen was still latched, and no visable damage. No feathers, and they had access to clean water. Cal heard nothing.

Sommer's birds and the nieghbor's birds are fine.

What could have caused this? The cage Sommer transported them in was sanitized and rinsed. The pen was intact. There are no signs of tracks or struggle.

What do you think? Poison? Bad neighbors? A raccoon, cat, or other predator? I just sent Cal out to check the chicken's necks or signs of BBGuns.​

Now Cal's wife is implying Sommer of bringing diseased chickens over. A whole flock of chickens she GAVE them, intended for HER pet project (The Alohas), ALL croaked within 12 hours. While none of the rest of that group is affected?

I am a little peeved.
