Are yours barred?

Mine have 4 different appearances now but all looked the same as chicks. I can't upload pics from my phone, but if you want to PM me your email or cell number I am happy to send you a picture of what they look like now.

Well, all of a sudden my chickens stopped laying. Three hens went broody and are sitting on golf balls. The one hen that my grand daughter put eggs under got up and pooped and ate. Then she went back to sitting on the wrong nest. We checked the abandoned eggs and there was no development.

Those eggs had been in the refrigerator. I am not sure if that caused a problem or not. We probably should have let them sit on the counter for a couple of hours and come to room temperature. But with the heat out there, it probably would be a miracle if they hatched.

I will post when and if those titlist golf balls hatch.

I remember when the hens would go broody my mother would dunk them in water to break them of it. I think changing the body temperature might be what did it.

I am glad Maharoni made peace with the neighbors. Sometimes neighbors can be a real pain.

We still have trouble with flies. I had those bottle traps, and they worked fine for the first few days, but then they began to smell like dead bodies. They got really rank after a week or two. The wife and kids threw them into the trash bin. Now I have those sticky tape hanging up. They catch all of the trash from the trees and not so many flies.

Those huge trash bins are where the flies breed. After the trash gets picked up, I can still see the maggots on the bottom of the thing. If the neighbors would keep the lid closed, we would not have that problem. But every time they take out the trash, they leave the lid up.

I guess there is no winning the fly war.

Rufus: I'm so looking forward to see what will come out of one of those Titleist eggs of yours.

Are you all ready for the complete financial meltdown that is coming next year? I'm afraid we will wish we had lived during the great depression.

I've got everything out of the stock market... everything, and now we are just trying to store more, but I still need a generator for short term power emergencies.

Mahonri--which channel are you watching? I am prepared, for the zombies of course, but am not yet ready for power outages...

Nervous and excited today... that chick that wandered into someone's yard is coming home with me today, my dad is raffling off his BEAUTIFUL custom Harley tonight in DT Chandler and I leave for Liberia in 22 days!! We have a lot of fund raising left to do. I'm SO sad to see my dad's bike leave the family, but it's for a great cause that will have eternal rewards. If you want to know what I'm talking about you can check it out on my blog (link in sig).

Have a great day everyone! Stay cool out there!!
