Come on down to Chino Valley( south of Ashfork by 40 miles)....I always have chicks, I started a hatchery in Chino Valley.

Light Brahma...so you are talking about the white with black colored chicken, yes??...just asking

Shaun....just let me know about the chicken....or when you want to come up?

I love the chicken AREA.....in Tucson, my coops are more of an area too so it is fun to see others like mine......

My turkey has hatched out 6 little Americana chicks, they are so much fun and very cute
Gretchen

Yes, white with black. I'll post some pics this afternoon. I have a hen and a rooster and they are both beautiful. What kinds of chicks do you have? I actually just found your hatchery yesterday and was going to call. Funny how things work.

I'm wondering if the LBs are harder to sex. I ended up with a LB roo too. Out of my 10 chicks 2 were LBs and one of the LBs was the only rooster.
I found a home for him on a farm, but it wasn't easy. It helped that he was big and beautiful.

It doesn't bother me. I was going to tell her about you if you didn't.

I just love my chicks...I have about 100 in the hatcher right now....popping out

so my friend wanted to hatch a few chicks...someone had given her an LG without a fan or turner...I let her use one of my turners.....the first batch was a dud...this batch she has 2 so far and is so excited. It is fun to share with someone that lives close the joy of hatching chicks

Mahonri, you need to send a post card to your regular patients reminding them that they should get their teeth taken care of before they lose their insurance. You never know when a layoff will occur. We made sure we had our teeth all taken care of before we retired.

You are lucky, I do not think that the National Health Insurance program will affect dental services. Doctors on the other hand will have a problem. Both of my doctors are getting into other businesses.

I wonder who Obama thinks is going to practice medicine under his program? People don't invest all of that time, money and schooling to work for low wages. They just cut medicare payments to doctors.

Those that went to veterinary school probably are the safest career wise.

I can't believe that well in the Gulf of Mexico is spewing 50,000 barrels of oil a day. That is impossible. If it is, BP was certainly on the sweet spot. They may well have been. The pressure that deep is intense, and yet the well is still gushing.

I wish I had a 50,000 barrel a day well on my ranch.

I still have one hen sitting of the golf balls. She is a barred rock. I have never had a Rhode Island Red go broody on me. I think broodyness has been bred out of them.

Am I the only one having issues with the internet service? The darn thing is out about half the time. Worse we have their phone service also, and it goes out at the same time as the internet. I can't even call to complain about the service. I won't name the service, but it rhymes with ox and the first letter is a "C". They are worse than useless.

I broke my 3rd broody a few weeks ago by giving her several cold showers. I just held her and soaked her with the hose (not her face). It worked great for me-- and it probably kept her nice and cool. I had to do it on a few subsequent days too when she spent a little too much time on the nestbox, but she never stopped laying and after 4 days lost all signs of broodiness.

I'm sorry, that is really too bad about the eggs. New chicks are always fun though, even if you weren't the one to hatch them.

The oil spill... things happen. It is hard not to be angry and scared. You have to remind yourself (very often) that being unhappy isn't going to solve anything. All it is going to do is make you feel bad. If you can't do anything then there is no point in being unhappy. And if you can do something (donations or protesting, for example) then do it, but there STILL is no point in making yourself upset in the process.

We broke open two of the eggs.

THEY HADN'T Pipped and were still alive.

We wet them and put them in the incubator.

I don't have much hope for them. Hopefully the other three will hatch. I hope the poor broody survives.
