Arizona Chickens

Good luck on your car hunting. I refuse to buy a brand new car, too, especially after I read that most millionnaires drive used cars- I figure that counts for something. I recently traded my Buick LeSabre for a used Toyota Rav4. Love it. When asked why I didn't get a new one, I told them that I am on a budget, and my insurance and tags would go way up. This way, my insurance went up $15 per month and my tags went up about $100.00 per year.

My roosters usually start crowing about 4:00 am, that is when my DH and I get up for work, so I'm thinking they see the lights on in the house. Luckily, both of my neighbors grew up on farms with chickens, and they both told me they like the roosters crowing. My goal is to downsize my laying flock to 30 hens and 3 roosters. Now, if they would just stand still so I can figure out which cockerals I want to keep, it would make my job a whole lot easier. Any suggestions on making that happen?

It is nice to have a long weekend. I actually took 3 days off from my full-time job, but am still working a couple of hours in the morning at my part-time job. So, I am done about 11:00 am and the rest of my day is mine. Of course, I carted around my DS and friend yesterday, not sure what is in store today.

Have a great one!

Angie

Mine usually start sometime around 3 or 3:30am. No one at our house or the neighbors is getting up then, so who knows why. There is a place in Bible where it talks about praising God all day long, deliberately setting hte time to praise him at cocks' crow, dawn, midmorning, noon, etc. I found it facinating that cocks' crow was listed separately from dawn.

Its a rooster. i saw it crow this afternoon. Maybe my buddy will take a breedable pair off my hands. I hate when my husband is right because now he's going to gloat for weeks!

So, still put in in the cage; just slip an egg in with it when hubby isn't looking

You should definitely do this!

My mom had a crowing hen. The neighbors tried to get her to get rid of it because she wasn't supposed to have roosters.
neighbor: "you need to get rid of your rooster"
my mom: "I don't have a rooster"
neighbor: "if it crows, it's a rooster"
my mom: "but she lays eggs"
neighbor: "oh"

That is interesting about the cocks' crow, so I guess mine are normal starting before dawn.

Thanks for that piece of tidbit.

I know. Some used cars are about as much as a new car. I noticed that the Hondas are a little pricier, but their trade in value is probably higher.
So, did you have any luck finding a car?

Because they are made in Korea, Japan and pretty soon we will be seeing cars from China. Obama's stimulus plan worked real well for them. Too bad about us.

I came home with a 2009 Honda Pilot - Touring 4WD

I hope it lasts FOREVER. I bought the bumper to bumper warranty that lasts till July 2016 or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first. 2016 will come first with as few miles as I put on a vehicle.

It's just nice to be rid of the BMW and expensive repairs... and premium gas... and....

(my Srint air card died so no internet connection until I got a new USB model today)

NoSkiveez, yes I"m still interested in picking up the eggs on Monday. I'll PM you and figure out the arrangements.

Mahonri, congrats on the new Pilot. Was the price reasonable? I'm looking to replace the Astrovan before it leaves me stranded.

DM nice chicks.

re: roosters crowing. You ought to hear 25 or 30 competing with each other! LOL One or two would be wonderful.
