My chicks are all happy and healthy, big chickens too. We didn't have any more eggs hatch, I really think they were dead in shell. I was going to do eggtopsies on them, but on Sunday while I was at work, my son had a friend over and they were messing with the recliner, and bent the plug until it came out of the wall. Still think they were dead before, but for sure after no power for who knows how many hours. The temp inside of the wiggly was 80 degrees, so probably a long time.

The little serama chicks are getting so cute I can't stand it!!! Will post more pics sometime tomorrow. So funny - Mahalo4 - the EEs we got from you - Darth has a pea comb, Anakin has a single comb, and Obi Wan has a single comb, but much different coloring and smaller hair do. I will post pics of them tomorrow too

That's about it, life is boring on days when you are working 12 hour shifts, but leaves a lot of fun time on days off

I gotta build me a bigger brooder pen. We've got 5 chicks, the two older ones are in one and the three younger ones are in the other. Cinnamon (Ameracuna) and Sugar (Silkie) are the older ones. Sugar is growing nicely and looking beautiful, but Cinnamon is growing much faster. We've had her two and a half weeks and she's already the size of a pigeon! So tomorrow I'm hopefully going to remember to get up early and go get me some brooder builder stuff. *grunt grunt grunt* rrrrrr, tools! Must build stuff! *grunt*

What breeds are your chicks? Our bantam chicks are looking much smaller now than the others the same age, but they were almost the same size when we got them. And what are you using for a brooder pen? We just use a small metal cage for the itty bitties and then a large wire dog crate once they are about 2 or 3 weeks old. I just can't imagine building something better for them. We take the bottom out so they have some dirt to scratch in. It is one of the wire cage looking ones. It's great, but we have to be careful because the smaller chicks can squeeze out in the beginning.

Missed you, Nurseshelly! I can't wait to see the pics. I am hoping to make it to Phoenix very soon. Sorry, that trip didn't work out so well. It may be the weekend after Easter.

I better start doing some research! We will be going to the aquarium there. I have no idea where it is. We also need a hotel suite. With 7 of us in the family, they don't let us stay together unless we get the big rooms. Last July we went to one called Hotel Tempe, or something like that. It was awful. We had a dishwasher, but it didn't work. We had to wait over an hour for them to clean our room, even though we had a reservation and arrived after check in time. There was still a bunch of trash left in the room. The pool was nasty. We cleaned it ourselves. Then we had to ask over and over for pool towels, and ended up getting them ourselves. But, they didn't have enough for all of us. There was a really long list. It was one thing after another. I would rather not stay there again. Anybody up there have any suggestions? I would rather not pay a fortune.

SOAP MAKERS - I know we have a few. Where do you get your lye? I think I'm ready to try a honey and goat milk recipe. It calls for Red Devil but from what I'm reading, its been yanked off shelves *special thanks to the meth addicts and meth labs* Any ideas where to get this?

Any good places to get supplies locally (prefer east valley)

5pinkarrows, your daughters are so cute with their new hens! They all look so happy.

cluckin_crazy, I'd be a little worried that Mahonri is right about the blight. I've never seen it personally, only in pictures, but that does look similar. There could be another culprit though, the damage looks like what you see with leaf miners/leaf hoppers. Have you had mottled leaf hoppers on your grape vines this year or last? The damage also looks a lot like what I see on my grape vines. Google "mottled leaf hopper damage" using the image search. I hope you and the little Scrapper are holding up well!

azpenguin, there's nothing like rapidly growing birds to motivate building stuff.

turkeybreeder, where did you go fishing? Did you catch anything? Your adventure yesterday sounded scary.

I usually get mine online. Red Devil hasn't been available for a couple years. You might try joining a Yahoo soaping group like AZSoapers and seeing if anyone can sell you small amounts.
