Arizona Chickens

You have hens and no roos?

If they are going broody, they have to have been laying?

Can't you put turkey eggs under a chicken?

YOU would NEVER put chicken eggs under a turkey as they would not survive.

Ok..I put chicken eggs under a turkey last fall....she hatched out 4 out of 6. I let her keep them for about 4 days and then took them away, by this time she was done with them.

Hi Don....nice to meet a new neighbor....

Don't worry about getting chicks at the feed store...I have chicks all the time and live in Chino Valley....I own What Came First Hatchery. I love starting chicks in Sept so they are already laying in the spring. I also have other kinds of birds too..

Love that video, thanks for sharing! I wonder what the success rate is for feather sexing?

It is only reliable when the birds are specific breeds (essentially bred for it). I think it may be covered in the sex-link sticky at the top of the genetics forum.

Oh good! Maybe there is a pullet or three in the batch!

I have worked in construction too long. I had a moment of utter confusion when you said "fabricate" before you left. To me, that is building up, or creating, whereas for you, it means more of a "deconstruction". LOL!!

My husband would be LOST if you used cooking terms on him.

HAHA... I was sitting here reading that & thinking the same thing..."what is she going to create with the dead chicken". So I guess I've been in construction for too long as well

Oh my gosh, hasn't anyone here gone to culinary school?????? Yes, they turned me into a butcher, a baker, but not a candlestick maker

I don't make soap, but I LOVE the stuff I get from my soaper friend, I sew, I quilt and now addicted to chickens! My OCD is out of control! I don't let my kids eat food dyes or say the word stupid, but they go to public school for my sanity.

Thanks, the silkies were still dissing them when I took the photo, now they join in the fun. A few days of showing them who the boss is and now it is Peaceful Kingdom again. I think chickens are the most comical animals out there.
